(Day 119) The amazing Caltha Palustris

Don't worry - I didn't turn into a brilliant botanist overnight, so if you didn't recognize the name, I didn't 10 minutes ago either. This happens to be the Latin name for the marsh marigold (which I googled). Two days ago, my marsh marigolds were being blown around and covered with snow by the blizzard. You can see from these photos that they suffered no ill effects.

I dug these up from a swamp, er, wetlands, near our house a few years ago and relocated them to the edge of the pond. All 5 plants are doing well . By the time they're finished blooming I hope my pond irises will be ready for their show.

Your Marigolds are marvelous & so are your photos too! They are bright & happy little flowers Rick! Aren't they the same flowers as Bill & Ben The Flower Pot Men?? Or were Bill & Ben dandelions?
Anyways Rick I love your post!!!

They are beautiful, Rick! Not even a touch of damage from the snow. Nature is incredible!

I really like the lighting you've captured! Is that shadow in the second shot from your legs? It looks like legs but the shadowing looks intentional... all artsy like. ;o)

It's amazing what you can find at the swamp! LOL!

@S. Etole - they sure are! Thank you Susan.

@darlin - thank you. I was also surprised that there were no effects - they were all upright again once the snow melted.

@Katherine - Bill & Ben never made it to Canada (at least not in my experience) so I had to google them - looks like the flowers in that show were sunflowers or dandelions, so, nope - wasn't these :) Thanks for stopping by, and you positive comments! Enjoy your weekend.

@Krista - thanks Krista. It wasn't quite sunset so the sun was still fairly strong and reflected off the water, kinda blowing out the marigolds. Any later though and the whole pond would be in shadows, so I tried a few positions to screen out some of the sun - I'm not that wide (normally) though :}
