(Day 92) The habit

Or perhaps better described as - the 'addiction'. My taste in coffee has run the gamut from instant coffee (yeah, remember that ??) to drip coffee to cappuccino and now on to one cup brewers. I think the theme throughout all the years has been - 'the stronger, the better' (not, the bitter).

I'm not sure who the world's greatest consumers of coffee are, but I'll bet the Dutch rank right up there. I was introduced to my latest favourite coffee during a trip to Holland a couple of years ago. It was a brand named Senseo, made by Douwe Egberts. When I returned to Canada I had to have that, only to discover that it wasn't available here! Not in Canada ? Pity! The internet's a wonderful equalizer and I soon found a machine and supply of coffee from our good neighbours to the south.

Today I can order the coffee from a Canadian distributor who orders it from Holland. So now I order 2 cases of coffee pods at a time (over 700 cups of coffee!). I started out with dark roast but have since discovered that they make extra dark roast - that's for me!

I think the Dutch add an ingredient that makes it very addictive!! Not sure - just saying.

Quite the photo Rick, amazing as per your norm. I had to chuckle at your coffee story, the stronger the better, I can relate but not through coffee. :-) I haven't had a cup of coffee in over 4 years now, decaf tea for me. But most of the teas, ya, the stronger the better, is that psychological or do we just like a full bodied taste? Hmmmm

@darlin - thank you. I think it's a combo of full bodied taste and addiction (ok, psychological, if you like :)

With me it's 'psychological' to the point that when I visit family and stay overnight, my coffee brewer goes with me!

I really like this shot and the perspective is very creative.

I think you're totally right, it seems really addictive and people who drink coffee say's senseo from Douwe Egberts is one of the best ever. Can't confirm that because I don't drink coffee, but I got to believe it.

Great shot by the way!

I think it's true that the dutch slip something in there to keep people coming back for more. Don't ever give me a hard time about Coke anymore. It's not nearly as bad as your coffee addiction!

@Avery - thank you.

@M - I guess in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad an addiction to have :) And I agree - best I've had so far!

@Julia - there are many health benefits in coffee! I've never heard the same claims for Coke. Switch! ;)

Mmm...a good cup of coffee is soooo good! I have one cup of coffee a day, in the morning...and I love it! Great photo Rick!

@Katherine - thank you. Couldn't agree more; I have about 5 cups a day - but they're small cups! ;)

I LOVE this pic and I LOVE the Senseo! I didn't know they had EXTRA dark though.
I buy my Senseo pods thru Amazon.
YUM YUM YUM ~ and saves me lots of $$ by not going to Starbucks all the time.
And i put a dollop of whipped cream on top!

@Kerri - yep, the extra dark is great. Now I'm waiting for the SUPER extra dark :)

Whipped cream ... mmmmm .. gotta try that.

So you're recommending that I start to drink coffee and stop coke?

@Julia - sure, think of the health benefits!! :-)
