(Day 164) 1000 Islands

Today's tour took us to the famous 1000 Islands in the St. Lawrence seaway. We stayed on the Canadian side of the border, crossing over the bridge on Hill Island and took in the view from the 122 metre/400' high Skydeck. What a beautiful water playground. If you've never been, add it to your places to visit and take a river cruise. Tell 'em I sent you (just so you can watch their expression when they say "WHO?").

Wonderful photos on your blog and not only in this post but in your older posts. I tried to see as many as I could. I am only sorry that I don't have enough time to comment them all. I also like your sense of humour which made me smile.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for your nice and kind comment.

The first picture has an amazing SKY, not to mention the silhouettes :-)

Regarding the Bridge - I love North American Bridges!

What a beautiful Sunset . . .

I'd love to take that cruise and tell the Rick sent me, LOL! Gorgeous Sunday Sunset, thanks for adding that to your shots for yesterday.

As always; really great shots, Rick! I LOVE the lighting and great big blue sky in that top shot. And, I'm always a sucker for silhouettes, it's really neat how you did that with the people in front of the sunset.

I hope you're enjoying your company! :o)

You caught a lovely sunset in your last shot. The 70-200 that you have must be a real joy to have.

@Barefoot from Heaven - hey Dag, I guess that's too bad; you know that home is where the heart is, but you both also need to be happy with your decisions. Maybe you'll have to live vicariously through these blogs ;-)

Holland is my second home so I always like to see photos from there.

Have a great week!

@Riet - ja, dat is zeker, en we zijn heel gelukkig om hier te wonen. Fijne week!

@MedaM - thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave a kind comment. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

@CarreraCaballo - thank you Joseph; it was a lovely day for making some shots and being able to show my visitors some of these beautiful places. Glad you enjoyed them.

@Scott - thanks Scott (you really should take that cruise). I'm encouraging others to post a sunset on Sundays too - I think you had a great idea with that!

@Krista - thank you Krista. It was such a beautiful place it was easy to make some photos. The sunset was from our trip to Florida in Feb. (I'm trying to build a small set of sunset shots so I can participate in Scott's Sunset Sundays).

Really enjoyed the company - two 18 year old lads from the Netherlands - they're off now to continue their visit to Canada.

@imac - ha ha, thanks mac (I think). I guess instead of becoming famous I'll just become infamous!

@Ruth's Photo Blog - thanks Ruth. I think you would certainly enjoy a visit there. I'm not very knowledgeable about birds but I do know we have quite a variety here, including herons, ospreys, eagles, many types of ducks and geese, etc.

@J.J.S. - thanks Joel. Yes, that 70-200 is a superb lens (comes with a superb price too :) but well worth it. I recently bought the 2x extender that goes with it - gives me an effective 140-400mm.

@M. Hassan - thank you M!

@S. Etole - thanks Susan - the pleasure was all mine in making the photos and getting to experience the places!

@teca - thank you very much. I had to endure a lot of 'suffering' to get that sunset shot (long story, but think 'no see ums').

@chasity - thank you chas; I like how the lens caught that.

Your photos are stunning and make me want to come out to visit. I was only ever in TO and Kingston, TO is way to big but Kingston is amazing with all of the rock buildings that apparently prisoners built when there was "hard time" to be served. This was all pre-computer days when I was there, yup it's been that long so I've never thought to google that information.

You have water as beautiful as BC's I see, amazingly beautiful and once again you have captured your part of the world masterfully!

Rick said...

@darlin - thanks Darlene. That sounds like a long time since you were here - a lot of water under the bridge, so to speak ;-)

I agree re: Kingston vs TO (no desire to go to TO!). And it is a very beautiful place. Thanks for stopping by.

@Costea Andrea Mihai - thank you Costea; it's a wonderful area.

@Jeanne Klaver - a bonus when showing visitors around is getting to see the area's beauty for yourself too.
