(Day 214) Blowin' in the wind

I've dabbled in gardening for many years - both the veggie and flower kinds. As with all gardeners, I've had my struggles with weeds, and ... crabgrass! Now, I've planted annuals and perennials, and shrubs, and even a few trees in the flower gardens. But the one thing I can honestly say I've never deliberately planted in a garden is grass!

Well I guess I have to start thinking outside my preconceived notions of what belongs in a garden. As I wandered around outside late this afternoon, after the daily torrential downpour, I found this ornamental grass being blown around by the remnants of the thunderstorm. In between the gusts I was able to make a few photos and I liked this one best. Perhaps I'll even go out and buy some grass for my gardens one of these days.

Beautiful photo . . . And by judging your close ups I think you must have a beautiful garden :-)

Why don't you post a panorama photo of your garden?

Joseph

@CarreraCaballo - thank you Joseph; personally I prefer the detail that close-ups reveal, but I will consider a panorama for the future - will give me an opportunity to experiment with stitching s/w which came with my camera - have never tried it.

Here you go, always a reason to try out something new ;-)

Grasses add a lot of interest ... especially in a breeze.

Don't grow grasses (except in occasional containers) but love them ... nice shot, Rick!

the ornamental grasses are one of the favorite things in my garden....they are soooo easy.
you should definitely get some.
but use a saw to cut them back in spring...not by hand!

beautiful capture.

@S. Etole - I looked at them again today - it was very calm - and they stood straight up; think I preferred them in the breeze. Thanks Susan.

@joey - I may have to try them now. Thank you joey.

@Ruth's Photo Blog - thank you Ruth; I'm becoming convinced.

@imac - if someone had told me, I wouldn't have believed grass could look good, unless it was a manicured lawn. Thanks mac!

@chasity - thank you Chas. I think I'll try some next spring; thanks for the tip about using a saw - I wouldn't have thought of that.

Amazing how grass can add to some gardens and make it look so beautiful and you captured it stunningly once again! If you do grow ornamental grass please do let me know how that works for you and I agree with Joseph about the panorama shot.
