(Day 218) Outta this world!

I personally don't know any astronauts. From what I've seen on TV, and read, astronauts are a pretty tough, stoic bunch who aren't easily rattled. Do you suppose though, that at some point, perhaps in anticipation of a launch, or during a space flight, or perhaps even afterward, when no one is looking, they might punch a fist in the air and break into a wide grin just because of the thrill involved ?

Well, today we took our daughter and 2 granddaughters to a nearby water park with all kinds of water slides and a lazy river you can raft down, and all sorts of fun stuff for kids - and 'grown-up kids' - to do. Judging by their expressions and laughter, I think they were just as thrilled as I'm sure some of the astronauts must be. Today's photo reminded me a bit of the international space station, which provided a segue to the thrills of space travel. And yes, we were all very thrilled to experience this one ... many times!

Sounds like a blast! Did you go on this slide? If so did it freak you out?

It's awesome to hear that you're getting in tons of quality time with your grandchildren, times such as these they will never forget.

I love the photo as well, I almost forgot to comment on it! The green sure stands out against the soft blue sky and I love how the sun is smack dab right in the circle, you couldn't have asked for better cooperation from the weather that's for sure!

@Photog Ave - thank you Avery!!

@darlin - yes, went on this slide on tubes. They had tubes for 2 people as well as singles so ended up going down with my 5-year old (pardon me - 5-1/2 year old !) granddaughter a couple of times. Even my 3-year old granddaughter went down with her mom - I was impressed ! We sure had a blast!

The weather's been phenomenal here (although the sun was brutal on my crimson back - even though I kept a shirt on).

That is Phun! You must have a phenomenal lens to get up that close to the space station LOL!. Great shot.

@becky - thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment - much appreciated. That header is a milkweed flower gone to seed - shot behind our garage last year.

@Scott - ha ha; for phun I visualized using the Hubble telescope as the lens (can you imagine the macros you could get with that!).

Thanks Scott.

@Chad - I think this 365 project has driven that point home to me, almost as much as the abc rule. Thanks Chad!

@imac - thanks mac; sometimes the photo lights up the imagination, sometimes it's the other way around. Thanks for your comments.

I hope your young friend is on the mend and will soon be out of the hospital !

I am deathly afraid of heights so there is no way you'd catch me on that ride!! I sure do admire your gumption, though! That'll be a fun memory for the grandkids.

@CherylK - I suffer from vertigo too - climbing to the top of this was a 'thrill' all in itself! But going down, inside a dark tube, was a blast!
