Party Time !

Wow - has it already been a year ? The days may seem to go slowly but the years go fast ! It seemed only just a short while ago that Graydon made his entrance into the world, and there we were today celebrating his first birthday (well, a day early but let's not quibble). There's definitely more time to watch a grandchild grow up than your own child, since you're not involved in the daily routines.

It's incredible to see how much a child learns in the first year - moving from a helpless baby to a child on the road to independence. And today was the day to celebrate the first milestone on that journey - with a party, balloons, and ... birthday cake !

What an adorable young fella Graydon is. I love this photo, what a fun picture!

I can totally relate to the time flying by, my granddaughter is already 8 months old and it seems she was just born a month ago! Grandchildren are God's way for making up raising teenagers I think. :-)

Great pic! Reminds me of the grandma who said If I'd known how much fun grandchildren are, I'd have had them first time round!"

Great portrait. In the first five years of life is when man has the greatest potential for learning. To 5 years a child can learn multiple languages without problem as long as there is a significant interaction. Greetings and congratulations to Graydon.

Too cute!! And I love his name, I don't think I've heard it before. A new name for your blog? I like it. I've thought about changing mine lots, since I started it for a class, I really didn't put any thought into it. Good to know you'll still be posting lots.

Graydon says thank you Avery ;-)

Absolutely Julia - I've used that saying a few times already (always nice too when someone else cleans them up and takes them home ;-)

Ha ha Dag - my photo was taken last Feb by my better half, in Florida (but hey, thanks for the compliment ! ;-) We hebben een fijne dag gehad, en vooral die smeerpoes !

Thanks Ruth, and I have to agree with you re: grandkids !

Thank you Katherine ! I hope you haven't been affected by those floods - looks terrible from the news reports !

Thanks Karin - you might say "he got right into it !" ;-)

Leovi - how true ! Even in the first year the changes and learning are phenomenal ! Thank you.

Thanks Farmchick !

Ha ha Stewart - I'm building a portfolio of photos suitable for a wedding reception slide show (or whatever they'll call it in about 20 years !)

Merci Marty - yes, he attacked this like he hadn't eaten in ... well, about 2 hours ! I send you a lot of bisous with icing !

Thank you teca - I'm sure this brought back lots of good memories for you ! Remember - little children, little problems; big children ...

Hi Becky - apparently he's named after his mother's grandfather. Glad you liked the blog changes - took me a while to get round to it.

Thank you Susan - I'll have to check his parents to see where he got them.

Danke Jasmin - I'm not sure if there is any significance in choosing the left hand - looks as covered with icing as the right ;-)

Thank you M !

Ha ha Joseph - exactly my thoughts !! Thank you.
