End of the dream

I discovered this place on one of my forays into the countryside near our place a couple of years ago. As I wandered around the abandoned property I tried to imagine the lives of the people who built this home, had children, and tried to make a go of the farm.

I made some photos here in b&w but I found the colour contrast significant. Perhaps as one of their last acts as the dream was crumbling around them, they tried to put a fresh face on the inevitable. Who knows ...

Rick I love seeing old places and imagining what life was like for those who lived there, what their lives were like, and what their dreams and aspirations were. I love this photo, it's awesome for the imagination!

I always wonder, too when I see these old abandoned buildings. Who lived there, were they happy, why did they leave, etc. There is a certain beauty, but also a certain sadness when I see these.

I bet that house has a heart full of memories.Wouldn't it be wonderful to find out what they are?

Oh I love old places....and whoever added the color may have too. Just one last attempt to allow it to "hang in there".

Makes for a pretty picture regardless:)

Raises lots of conjecturing ...

I often wonder about peoples dreams/aspirations ... especially of those gone by. Also, when I walk down the streets of a city and see the asses, I wonder at each individual that scurries by ... what are their dreams? their aspirations? who loves them? who do they love? Sometimes it makes me sad.

Thank you all for your wonderful and thoughtful comments. I'm not sure if I can discover any more about who used to live here and what happened to them, but I'm as curious as you are. I do have some more photos of this place which I will share in a future post.
