A brief moment in time

I mentioned our wilderness tour in my last post, where we bounced around over the trail in an old school bus (affectionately referred to as a 'buggy' by the tour guide - I suppose as in 'swamp buggy'). The focus of the adventure was definitely on the wildlife to be found there, but I also noticed some plants and flowers and I tried hard to get a decent shot of them. That was a bit difficult because the buggy didn't really stop at those points. I managed to get this one in my sights just as we stopped briefly to get a glimpse of a gator partly hidden behind a tree in the swamp. It will be another 3 months before we have an abundance of these back home in Canada.

Is that an Iris? It's gorgeous. I miss them, we had them growing wild around our lake when we lived in Illinois.

It's a beautiful shot Rick and I love that while others were probably shooting the gator, you were shooting the flower/insect! A man after my own heart!

Nice shot Rick, especially given the circumstances! I clicked to enlarge to see that flying creature... perhaps coming in for a landing & a drink of nectar!

Beautiful shot, Rick. I like Becky's comment, "...a flying creature...perhaps coming in for a landing and a drink of nectar!" A romantic notion, and I'm buyin' it!

Thank you, Darlene - these were growing in the wild - we won't have these at home for quite a while yet.

Hi Dag and thanks for stopping by in your busy life ! As you can tell, I'm doing quite well here in the warmth and sunshine ;-) I have some more lovely photos of our lovely granddaughters - will post a few more soon. Lieve groetjes !

Thanks, Magda !

Yes - an iris, and also growing in the wild near the swamp (there were actually large clusters but I was lucky to capture this one. Thanks, Leslie.

Hi Chasity - thanks for stopping by and your nice comment. I hope to make the rounds this evening - see you soon.

LOL Cat - thanks ;-) Pssst - I also got some shots of the gators, of course.

Thank you, Scott - I could just get my settings and the focus, clicked, and off we were again ;-)

Thank you, Carolyn - one of those shots you don't have much time to get since everyone wanted to see more gators !

Thanks, Ruth - the insect was indeed a timely, and lucky, addition !

Muito obrigado, Soraia !

Thank you, Susan - even if it was only for a brief moment !

Ha ha, Dawn ! Glad you liked it - now, reach out your hand ... keep your eyes open !

LOL Joseph - it wasn't even in the frame when I composed the shot ... rather quickly. Lucky capture (and I agree - thanks).

Ringraziarla molto, Amatamari !

Merci, Marty. You are very fortunate that spring has arrived - we are heading back 'home' in less than 4 weeks; spring will have arrived on the calendar but maybe not yet outdoors. I can send warm bisous from Florida - from Canada they will be cool, but from a warm heart ;-)

Thanks, Becky - I caught him just at the last split second - I think he saw me lining up the shot and did his best to make it ;-)

Thank you, Jeanne ! I think Becky got it right !
