Shroom invasion !

A couple of days ago I was watering grass 'plugs' I had planted in some barren spots in the lawn (they have BIZARRE grass here in Florida if I haven't mentioned that before). Being a somewhat more observant individual these days as a result of practice during my 365 project, I spotted a few small cream-coloured dots on the ground near the stem of a cordaline plant in the flower bed. They struck me as a bit peculiar due to their smooth shape and colour, but I stayed focused on watering and I soon forgot about them.

Today as I happened by the same place, my eye again caught sight of them, except by this time they had grown about 50-fold ! The little dots were now transformed into curious aliens popping through the mulch to get a look at the world around them. I'll keep a close eye on them over the next few days in case they increase by another 50-fold !

Oh oh, time to come home Rick before the invasion of the mushrooms hit! lol

Magnificent shot, I wish you all the best with this fungus (fungi?), overtaking lawn beasts! I tried something years ago which actually worked on a fair ring, I was told to take a screwdriver and poke deep holes every few inches and pour Sunlight dishsoap and water mixed into the holes, if memory serves me correctly I think it was 1/4c soap to 3/4c water. I just googled the removal of mushrooms, here's a link you can check out if you'd like, it's not suggesting what I did but you might want to try something different.

Have a great day and maybe when you stay up all night see if you can capture a shot of the fairies, they just might make some rings on your lawn. Sorry, I'll quit there! lol

Looks like these guys are all sticking together. I am fascinated with fungi...they come in so many interesting shapes and sizes, textures and colors.

They look so soft. Having a photography hobby really does help us pay more attention to the world around us.

Fascinating shot.It is amazing how even a small mushroom can be pretty.

Those are the strangest mushrooms I've ever seen! How neat. Thanks for sharing. :)

They are very bizarre mushrooms! I love the shot, great colours. I love how the yellow stands out against the brown of the soil. (:

I like the colours :D

Oh my, can you imagine another growth spurt the same size? YiKeS! =0
I wonder if they do anything good or bad?

It has been a busy couple years for mushrooms. Maybe because of more carbon dioxide? This was a nice shot of such creamy yellow fellows.

Thank you very much Magda ! Have a wonderful weekend !

Yep - we'll be packing our bags and getting out of here soon, Darlene - I think they're on to us ! ;-) Now THAT would be a sight to behold - fairies dancing on my lawn - would make for quite a shot for the blog ;-) Thanks Darlene, and get ready for a fantastic weekend. right ? (by the way - I didn't need any detergent; you should have seen these poor souls by this evening - no staying power at all !).

I found these little 'soldiers' huddled together and they looked so unique ! Good thing I shot them when I did because today they were all shrivelled up. Thanks, Karin !

Thanks, Tammy - I think I'm much more observant now - consciously !

Thank you, Ruth, and yes, especially when we can see the details up close.

I'd never seen any like this either, Elizabeth - thanks !

Thanks, Saz ! They do look weird, don't they !

Thank you, Soraia !

We could turn it into a sc-fi thriller if that happened, Tricia ! ;-) Good or bad is a moot point today - they've shrivelled up.

Thanks for stopping by, Kenneth - and I agree ! ;-)

A bit bizarre aren't they, Susan !

I hadn't seen too many mushrooms here in Florida, Nellie, but it's been very dry here till just this week; maybe that will change now. Thanks for dropping by and following !

They are Farmchick, and I'd never seen any that looked like this before. If more do pop up - perhaps more photo ops !

Amazing all the different flora & fauna on this planet. This looks almost Dr Seuss inspired (or vice- versa. Cool shot~ way to notice the smaller things, Rick!
