When wrong feels right

I guess weathermen (weatherpersons ? ok, meteorologists) are somewhat like economists - they quite often have a gloomy forecast and we love it when they're wrong ! Well, ours turned out to be quite wrong today. for the most part.

Yesterday's forecast calling for another rainy day went out the window already early this morning. The sun shone through some broken cloud cover and the temperature soared to 30C/86F, a tad (that's a technical term in meteorology meaning we were way off) warmer than the predicted high of 20C/68F ! We weren't complaining - even though my wife had chosen today for us to repaint the living room.

Now I suppose the weather people could claim a moral victory of sorts - we did catch a 15-minute thunderstorm this afternoon, and another this evening. And as you can see from this photo, our little 'creek' - which is dry about 9 months of the year - was still flowing with runoff from April's abundant showers.

I don't like to wish anybody ill, but I sure hope these weather gurus are wrong for the remainder of the week.

I'm happy for you Rick that you had some awesome weather. I love your interpretation of the "meteorologists", sounds just like them.

Your creek looks like our fields. Funny I have my glasses on and had to look over them, sheesh, the photo looked a bit blurred and I know you don't take blurred shots, my glasses need cleaning I think! lol It's a great shot, nope nothing wrong with it at all! Enjoy your day. :-)

The weather people get it wrong here too but the weather seems to becoming more & more unpredictable... especially when you see the erratic weather patterns of the last 3-4 months all over the world.
I hope the Mother Nature brings you favourable weather Rick! Cheers Kath

I have heard that this has been the wettest spring on record here. Between the snow melt and daily rain, the ground is pretty saturated. If it doesn't dry up a bit soon, I won't be able to put my garden in, or, more importantly, get great photo ops ;)

Someone recently made the comment, how can you be wrong so often and still have a job, this referring to the weather people.I do hope they are wrong for this weekend, but we will see later.Glad you had a wonderful, warm day.

I love how you're so politically correct with weather "person." :) What a pleasant surprise! Enjoy your weather!

You had temps in the 80's after all the rain? Yes this weather has been crazy. I just read about the tornados in the southern U.S.~ weather can produce such devastation! I feel badly for the people there.
Did you repaint the living room, or did you play hooky due to the nice weather?

That will dry up the water in no time.....

The weather, despite the weathermen, changes mood often
and when is expected the sun
the rain comes, and vice versa
but lately in Italy but the forecast is enough accurate
rain at Easter and again these days
Hopefully in the sun!
Ciao Rick, kiss

I like the long exposure-d water flow by the drain pipe!

I hope that the rains were a respite. I love caviar but with a good white wine. Of course it's not wasted in taking photos.

Ha - these days you can never be sure what to call people since some are so easily offended (it's Sunday so I won't go on a rant ;-) Our fields look like this too - actually this is usually a part of our lawn. Have an awesome week Darlene.

Ha ha Jasmin - yes, wallpapering with open windows and high wind is not wise ;-) And it's a good thing we can't do anything about the weather ! Hope your weekend went well.

Yep - sure been a little wacky here, Katherine. Very variable - some sun today, some rain tomorrow - still a mixed bag. Have a great week !

We set a new record for rainfall here in April - and it's obvious when you look around. Hopefully things dry up in your neck of the woods Tammy - hate to miss those photo ops ;-)

You're right, Ruth - same goes for economists ! Have a super week.

Ha ha, Elizabeth - I'm not a 'pc' kinda person - I had the sarcasm font turned on ;-)

We've had temps all over the map - but thankfully no snow, Becky ! And yes, we did get the living room painted. Enjoy your week.

I'll have to be selective with what weather I blow your way, Dawn - one day sunshine, the next more rain. I'll be careful ;-)

Ah Minu - we're having the same problems here - far too much rain, with only a little sun sprinkled in. I hope your weather gets better soon too. Have a wonderful week ! Molti baci, Minu. Ciao !

Thank you Joseph - that's a culvert running under our driveway - there's usually only a trickle of water in it ! Have a great week (get that camera out again ;-)

LOL Leovi ! You have good taste !

Ha ha Tricia - I didn't want to come across as a whiner ;-)

Thanks, Lisa - maybe by now all your snow is gone. May you have a sunny week !

Hopefully you got that in the right proportions, Stewart ! Have a dry week !
