Close to home

The summer is going by quickly, and this summer is more like the ones I remember as a kid - hot, dry, and sunny every day; virtually no rain to speak of. I decided to walk around the yard yesterday, camera in tow, to capture a little of the colour before what remains succumbs even further to the heat and drought.

(all shots made with a 70-200mm lens at ISO200, apertures ranging from f5.6 to f14 and shutter speeds from 1/320 to 1/4 sec)

I love all the touches you have added. Watch out it gets addictive and very time consuming. Wonderful soft touches to the beauty right in your yard.

Yes, I love what you did with the framing! Especially on that first shot. Just looks like it fades into the light around it.

Fijn weekend!

Thank you Ruth. I'm happy they're pulling through our drought (with a little watering help, of course).

LOL - I know, Carrie - it's easy to try all the cool stuff. Thanks.

Ha ha - I saw on your blog that you were getting too much of lovely ;-) Thanks for dropping by Dawn.

Mahalo, Cloudia, and aloha !

Thank you, Hope. If only we could, we'd swap weather for a week or so. You take our heat, sunshine and DRYness and we'll take your cool and wet. Deal ?

Merci Marty - oui, please accept a bouquet of fragrance from my jardin, for which you are more than welcome ! Along with the bouquet, please accept plein de bisous !! Have a wonderful dimanche !!

Thank you Elizabeth - nature needs no embellishment, but I liked to play with the shot.

Thank you, Julia, for your visit and comment.

Thank you so much Laura. A little rain wouldn't spoil our weekend ;-) Enjoy your Sunday !

Thank you, Joseph - those 2 happen to be my favourites too. Yes, quite a summer indeed - I hope yours is going well.

Thank you, Farmchick !

Dank je wel Riet; we genieten er veel van. Ja, je moet ze horen als ze 'de Zoete' proberen uit te spreken - ik moet soms gewoon om lachen. Fijne zondag Riet.

Obrigado, Fábio !

Thank you kindly, Randy.

Beautiful blooms!! Just lovely :) I really need to plant more colour in my garden.

Thank you, Susan - nothing like colour in the garden later in the summer.

Thanks, Saz (sometimes I get a bit more of that creative urge, although it's hard to improve on nature).

Obrigado, Soraia !

Gracias, Daniel.

Thank you, Teca - your visits and comments are always appreciated. My internet problems have slowed my ability to make visits but I'm in Florida for a couple of weeks where our internet works very well. I will see you soon - beijos in the meantime !

Thank you very much, Lisa !

Cпасибо Vera ! Thank you for visiting - I had to come see your blog too - you make wonderful photos !

Thank you, Katherine ! I've been watering regularly due to the drought else we'd have had very little colour by now. They do really add some life around the house.
