For quite a few of my recent posts the subjects have been terrestrial in nature. Not that I haven't looked upwards at all - it's just that there were plenty of interesting subjects nearby, and less interesting goings on above. As I went to start the lawn mowing today, however, there were patterns of wispy clouds against a blue sky that had to be captured before they were absorbed by the increasing cloud cover from the west, heralding a change in weather.
I'll post 2 images that will show why the lawn cutting duties had to be temporarily put off.

Oh I do love cloud shots Rick... I really love the whispy ones!! Hope your having a nice day...you've certainly got some lovely weather there if the clouds are anything to go by!
@Katherine - yes, thanks - today was nice and warm (26C); we're expecting rain tomorrow (we need it) - the 2nd photo shows what was coming in a little later. Have a great weekend!
Those do make for a great looking day. Some really nice shots of the heavens there.
Rick you still haven't ceased to amaze me, both of these shots are magnificent! It really is amazing how fast the sky can change color and you've captured it in amazing detail! So, do tell... did the lawn finish getting mowed?
@Scott - thank you; it was a magnificent day, but the skies change very quickly.
@darlin - thank you. Yes, it does change quickly so you can't put off getting a shot till later. And yes, I did get the lawn done :-)
Have a great weekend and may your skies look more like the 1st shot!
Mooie lucht foto's Rick. En het gras is ook nog gedaan. Prima toch.
Fije Zaterdag

You guys are having such great weather there. I love sky shots too - especially when coupled with a wide angle lens and prominent monument in the foreground.
Very pretty! We've had thunderstorms every day this week.
Wow, beautiful skies :-)
Here is 30 °C, finally :-D
Greetz,
Joseph
Hi there Rick, kind of squeezing my time in here because I miss you guys. Totally can understand why the lawncutting had to be put aside....
These are stunningly beautiful.
Hugs Dag.
i love to cloud watch... you got some lovely shots. i've had to jump off the lawnmower for photo opps as well. maybe we should get lawn mower bumper stickers that say "i brake for a good photo" :)
chasity
btw...i've used that toaster quote before about waking up as well~ that totally cracks me up!
We didn't have these in Southern Ontario. Isn't it funny how we're so close and yet our weather is worlds apart?
Hard winds? because those clouds are crazily beautiful and I love the way you framed the first one. Second one is spooky and lovely at the same time.
Wow dad, those are some pretty cool shots of the clouds. God sure knows how to give you cool shots for your blog!!
@Riet - dank u Riet. Ja, als ik het gras niet had gedaan, zou er ruzie zijn, en dat kon toch niet op z'on mooie dag! Ook een fijne weekend.
@J.J.S. - yes, our spring has been quite pleasant this year. Cloud formations can be very captivating - we just have to look up from our daily work sometimes :)
@Kerri - thanks Kerri; I find thunderstorms fascinating - they sometimes have beautiful (although ominous) cloud formations.
@CarreraCaballo - thank you Joseph; today you are blessed weather-wise. Enjoy, and don't get a sunburn!
@Barefoot from Heaven - ha ha - yes, we have our priorities! Thanks for stopping by Dag; hope things are working out ok.
@chasity - LOL - that's a great idea, the bumper sticker (need one on the car too :-)
I couldn't remember whose blog that toaster quote came from but I remember the quote (I'm not an early morning person!).
Thanks for stopping by.
@The Lucy and Dick Show - yes, the weather can be quite different even over 300 kms. We did get some rain overnight but not today, as expected; lovely sunny, warm day today.
@M. Hassan - I think there were hard winds blowing aloft, not so much at ground level. Thanks for your kind comments.
@Julia - thank you Julia. You're right - God provides, I only have to press the shutter release :)
Oh, I'm all for interrupting chore time with creative time. What is so important that it can't wait, right? :o)
These cloud shots are lovely. I am fascinated by clouds and could watch them for hours. it takes very little to entertain me. haha!
@Krista - me too, but there can be BIG trouble if I don't get the chores done :0 !
Yeah, sometimes I can get carried away by looking at clouds too (I have a bunch in my archives). "Een kinder hand is gauw gevuld" - there, now you know some Dutch - it's an old saying that literally means "a child's hand is quickly filled" or could be interpreted as some people are easily satisfied LOL just saying, you know (and I count myself among them) ;)
