"We are so impressed by scientific clank that we feel we ought not to say that the sunflower turns because it knows where the sun is. It is almost second nature to us to prefer explanations . . . with a large vocabulary. We are much more comfortable when we are assured that the sunflower turns because it is heliotropic. The trouble with that kind of talk is that it tempts us to think that we know what the sunflower is up to. But we don't. The sunflower is a mystery, just as every single thing in the universe is." --Robert Farrer Capon
"I am often asked if I am not lonely on my solitary excursions. It seems so self-evident that one cannot be lonesome where everything is wild and beautiful and busy and steeped with God that the question is hard to answer." --John Muir
"If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life." --Rachel Carson

Rick these are stunning photos, I love the colors in all of them! The middle one is so soft, so delicate and wow! All of your shots definitely depict summer and God's hand in painting out world for us. He's such an amazing artist, we're all extremely blessed.
Excellent quotes as well, the last one resonates with me, my sense of wonder is still childlike most days! ;-)
Have a fantastic weekend!
Breathtaking beauty! Nature is much to complex for anyone to understand but that does not keep me from enjoying it.
Beautiful photos Rick!
Beautiful closeups of the sunny yellow sunflowers. Blessings, Pamela
Beautiful shots with such rich colors and such great illustrative quotes.
These feel like golden liquid butter, so creamy in its beauty.
Lovely captures! They are such a gorgeous orange yellow.
Excellent macro! I love the last one
I think that the sunflower like a child searching the light and warmth of the sun to radiate your life.
Good Sunday, honey.
Many sweet beijos and much love to relax.
I forgot to comment: the photos are wonderful! Marvelous shots!!!!
A warm hug.
I really identify with that second quote. Such pretty photos. I've always loved sunflowers.
inondée par tant de lumière ! une vraie merveille ! j'adore tes photos ! je te souhaite un joli dimanche !
bisous ensoleillés
love the rich yellow, beautiful!
wish you a happy sunday and a great week ahead!
What stunning color. I have had to always try and plant my sunflower so I will see their heads when I view them. Before I wasn't so careful and when entering the garden the all faced away. The ones in pots I can rotate the pots so too see the bright cheerful faces the present. Many people ask don't I get lonely out here in the valley. Even now my hubby has gone for almost 2 weeks to Germany. I haven't seen another humane soul now for 10 days. I am not lonely in the least. I am surrounded by nature which fills any loneliness with God's presence. One is never alone when surrounded by nature. Have a very blessed week. Hugs Carrie
Angels well glimpsed and shown, Rick

Wunderbar sind solche Aufnahmen, diese prächtigen Bumen mit ihren satten Farben, ein Augenschmaus, jede einzelne ist ein Kunstwerk...
