We're experiencing a vacationer's dream summer - hot, dry, sunny weather. Other than a quick downpour from a thunderstorm yesterday it has been bone dry for weeks, with temperatures in the 32-35C/90-95F range.
This evening I went to see just what the effect has been on a little nearby creek - judge for yourself.

There's no more debris floating by for these branches to grab
The wildflowers haven't been affected. yet
Although these were more plentiful in previous years
Here and there were pools of now stilled water
It remains to be seen whether these pools will also dry completely before the rains replenish the creek. In the meantime, vacationers aren't complaining.

Oh that is bad, you should have some of our heavy rains here. We are soaking, lots of water in the rivers and creeks.
This is the nature versus nature. It's complicate. Nice shots... i like that pictures with the wildflowers
Vacationers may be loving the weather but I wonder what the farmers are saying. I live in farming country and although I am not a farmer,I feel closely connected to them. The small pool of water gave some great reflections.
Wow, that is incredible! I know you've had an extremely dry hot summer there. I don't think it's been that bad here, thankfully. Hopefully you'll receive some rains soon.

You need rain. The plants seem to thrive still in the dry weather. Stay cool!
I've never thought of shooting a dry creek bed. There are still some pretty flowers around though. I hope it doesn't get too dry.
Needing some rain here, too. Interesting photos even without the water.
I wish I could share some of the rain we have been getting in Northern Wisconsin, the lake levels have not been this high in years. Everything is green and lush, and I have never seen a better corn crop.

The only difference between your picture and where we live is that you still have "green" stuff only the banks. Ours is yellow or brown! 106 yesterday 103 today.
What a sad, sad time for us all. I'm baking on the prairie as well. I'm worried all the grass isn't dormant, it's dead. There will be a run on grass seed this fall and healthy nursery stock next spring. God help us all.

So glad ou are having good weather this summer!
It has been hot and dry here too. We went almost a month with no rain, and then got some last night. Our plants and grass are hurting pretty badly, so we'll need a lot more.
Vastly different extremes of weather we are both experiencng Rick. I do hope you get some rains to replenish the creeks and cool you all down soon.

Rick please take some of our rain. Today there were tornado warnings for Edmonton and surrounding areas, the rain pelted down once again but thankfully it's stopped now and no tornadoes set down that I've heard of.
Your photos speak volumes, what are the farmers doing or do they have irrigation systems? I hope it stays nice and warm straight through until the end of August, I'm flying in to Hamilton for 9 days, if not a bit longer. I'm not sure exactly where I'm heading but I'm landing in Hamilton... how's that for trusting a step-sister I haven't seen in almost ten years?

Ugh, I hate that y'all are experiencing a taste of what we've had. It is just so disheartening. Praying that we will all get back to normal very, very soon.
