Alberta Bound - I

Alberta was our home for 15 years, and we recently returned for the first time in 10 years. After paying a surprise visit to very good and now newly-retired friends, we set out for a few days of R & R in the Rocky Mountains. It was déjà vu all over again.

I used to tell our children on our Sunday drive to church in Calgary that many people traveled thousands of miles to view such spectacular scenery as we were seeing - they shrugged it off with a "yeah, yeah". And now here we were doing just that.

Sit back, relax, and let Gord Lightfoot provide some musical accompaniment (click the link below the photos) while you join me. I'll take you further along into the mountains in subsequent posts.

another 'Alberta Day' in the foothills

through the foothills toward the mountains

Brings back memories of when I used to live in Canmore. It was really a small town unlike it is today. Lovely to see the Bow River again.

Hi Rick,
Beautiful pictures of a breathtaking landscape. We know Calgary and Alberta only from the television images of the Winter Olympics in 1988.
Beautiful rest of the week for you.

It seems we were both at Bragg Creek this month! I love this part of Alberta with the prairie and foothills then the mountains. We skipped the mountains this trip as we know we'll have many more when we visit our family there. Beautiful photos of the scenery.

I love the mountains and go there every chance I get. I guess the second best thing to actually being there is going there from my easy chair! Nice pictures! Easy on the eyes and soothing to the ears!

Hoi Rick,

van mij mag je inderdaad meer van dit soort foto's plaatsen. Prachtig uitzicht door de wolken heen, maar ook de bloemen in het veld. je onderste foto is ook echt een schitterende plaat.
