(Day 159) Back yard beauty

'T was that golden hour of the day and it was a perfect time to scout around for those photo ops just waiting to be discovered. So, camera in hand, I went walking (and sometimes crawling - yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy!) around the back yard and soon came back with a card full of potentials to sort through. Here's what caught my eye.

You are really good, Rick! That is my first thought upon seeing this post. You've got a great talent!

I particularly like the DOF in the top shot, and the colours are really pretty!

The bottom on reminds me of asparagus, which is a good thing because I like asparagus. :o)

love them all but the first one would have to be my favourite. Great talent you have there and thank you for sharing

Rick I have to agree that the first photo is my favorite, this one really stands out for me. I guess that it could have something to do with the fact that I love gold!

Stunning photos once again. You're not crazy, you only have a passion which makes you do some crazy things! :-)

Awesome use of light. The flowers really have a golden look, and the lighting at the back of the objects are sublime.

@Krista - thank you Krista *blush*

I had to 'break' a rule on that first one - I shot almost into the sun, but the late day light looked so nice. Ha ha - I can send you a piece of that 'asparagus' (it's actually the end of a pine branch - bon apetit)

@Carolyn Ford - the light is so nice then! Thank you - that's the stem of a small maple I planted last year.

Rick said...

@Scott - ha ha - my wife just gives me that puzzled look when she sees me crawling around :-)

Rick said...

@Chad - thank you Chad; that little maple also had a few reddish leaves on top but I thought they looked too much like fall already.

Rick said...

@S. Etole - yes, thank you; only just a little more than crawling around making them ;-)

@joey - thank you joey - also a favourite of mine.

@lavender lady - thank you, and my pleasure.

Rick said...

@darlin - phew, thanks for the vote for my sanity - I'm going to repeat that line to my wife! ;-)

Rick said...

@bonifer - thanks; it's amazing how light reacts with objects to almost cast a spell on them (I'm rarely up to see that effect in the morning).

@Rodrigo Rodrigues - obrigado (thank you ?)

I appreciate your visit and following; visited your blog too - see my comment there.

@Katherine - thank you Katherine; the first photo is a white birch; got them as saplings about 5 years ago from a friend - they're almost 20' tall now and just lovely.

Rick said...

@chasity - LOL; I wasn't too sure at first while I was making them but then got into the spirit of it (and got carried away - happens to me occasionally ;-) Thanks for stopping by.

Rick said...

@Barefoot from Heaven - thank you Dag; photography gives me an excuse to do weird things - at least in my own back yard! :-)

Rick said...

@Riet - dank u wel. 't was ook zo'n mooie avond - 't kon niet anders.

Rick said...

@M. Hassan - thanks M - it was a perfect evening with the sun at just the right angle; we're lucky we get that near the house because we have lots of woods elsewhere.

Rick said...

@imac - thank you mac (at least the light looked warm; it was a rather cool evening to be crawling around the yard ;-)

Rick said...

@teca - thank you for your visit; your blog is quite interesting (now you have me listening to the Beatles ;-)
