Today I'd like you to meet 'Gary', one of my wife's new friends. If I have to say so myself, he's rather cute. Sometimes Gary comes around with a few of his friends - that's ok with me, but my wife prefers it if they wouldn't come near her. My wife has a peculiar way of greeting Gary - it's usually with a shriek or a gasp. In fact, I'm not sure that my wife would even refer to Gary as one of her friends - it's what I tell her Gary is, because Gary cleans up a lot of the bugs and insects around here.
I thought "Gary the Gecko' was an appropriate name for the little guy. Now it's time for you to meet him:
(all photos shot with a 70-200mm lens, at f11, ISO200 at shutter speeds from 1/30 to 1/25 sec)
He's a curious little guy:
not too large:
and he sports a nice pattern on his back:
Now of course today is Sunset Sunday - if you don't know what that means, take a moment to look at Scott's blog. I made this sunset shot a few minutes after I made this shot last night. Hope you enjoy it, and the sunsets of all who participate.

I don't think,no,I KNOW that 'Gary' would not be my friend.:) The sunset on the other hand is gorgeous.
Blessings,Ruth
A friend in disguise perhaps ...
I think Gary is the cutest little guy! Love his markings and that second photo of him is my favorite.
The sunset is just lovely. Photos of the sky just fascinate me...particularly sunsets.
A kind friend and magnificent sunsets!
Kisses.
Oh Gary's cute. We have a lot of geckos here in Australia. Unfortunately though our native geckos are way outnumbered by Asian geckos which are considered a bit of a pest because they poop all over everything & have been known to gnaw at electrical wiring. I still think they're cute though. Lovely photos of Gary!
Gary the Gecko would be a great name for him...if he was a gecko!
This little guy is an anole.
Great shots Rick. Love shot #2!
I used to chase them around when I lived in Florida. All kinds of shapes, sizes and patterns.

@Ruth's Photo Blog - but he's SO cute Ruth, and useful at the same time! Ok, we'll settle for the sunset - thanks Ruth and have a great week!
@S. Etole - my wife would prefer these 'friends' to relocate elsewhere ;-)
@CherylK - ha ha, thanks Cheryl.
Yes, I never tire of sunsets either!
@teca - thank you teca. Beijos!
@Katherine - and I thought Australia had tight immigration rules !! ;-)
Gary doesn't look like he's got teeth tough enough to gnaw at wires - in fact, he didn't look like he had teeth at all, although I didn't get close enough to check that out.
Have a great week Katherine.
@Photog Ave - oh oh, now I've misled all these followers; hopefully they'll read your comment, and now I know better too - thanks Avery.
I guess I'll have to rename him 'Andy the anole' ;-)
Chasing them around would be a great way to stay in shape - they're pretty fast!
Enjoy your summer.
He's a Gummy Gary! And as for our tight immigrations rules...all I can say is, I don't know about that!!!
Hope you had a great weekend!
@Katherine - see the comment from Avery (Photog Ave) above. I've had to rename him 'Andy' ;-)
Gummy Andy ? Doesn't have the same ring to it!
That sunset is breathtaking! And lol.. Ik hou van je gekko photos. funny :)
I didn't mean to rain on your parade Rick!
I'm sure no one will notice, if nothing else is said.
So sorry!

If his name was Andy... I think you could probably guess what all the other anoles would be calling him... Oh dear.. I feel sorry for little Andy!
Gary knows how to pose for a camera. Amazing first and second photos of him :-)
Do I need to comment on the sunset photo? ;-)
Greetz,
Joseph
@Biana - ha ha, wat een schat, he. Dankjewel Biana - fijne maandag!
@Photog Ave - hey - that was tongue-in-cheek, right Avery ? No need to be sorry - I appreciate you letting me know what it was! And I don't think he minded at all being renamed Andy ;-)
@Katherine - LOL!! Andy doesn't mind at all what he's called ... as long as he's not called late for dinner ;-)
@Joseph - yes, after I initially scared the bejeebers out of him, curiosity got the better of him. He posed quite nicely when I told him he'd be featured on my blog ;-)
Thanks Joseph - gutentag!
lovely capture! :)
i like how he turns his little head like he is listening to what you have to say. i think that he's adorable. i'm a little strange though.
beautiful sunset.
perfect composition....exquisite colors.
Very nice
Regards
@Costea Andrea Mihai - thanks Costea !
@chasity - LOL - I promise I wasn't whispering sweet nuthin's in his ear ;-)
I thought he was kinda cute too - so I guess we're both strange!
Thanks Chas.
@ma thet zin - thank you!
I knew you were setting up for a good sunset with that photo last night and you didn't disappoint. I think Gary is great. Tell him that he and his friends are welcome at my place any time. We'll treat him very well. I had to come back early because grandchild # 18 who was scheduled to arrive by appointment this Friday, couldn't wait any longer and showed up today. It will probably take my wife a while to forgive me for having her away on a camping trip and missing the birth.
@Scott - thank you Scott - I had that one in mind when I posted the previous day. I still have a whole raft of them - the sunset was so beautiful and kept changing by the minute.
Congratulations with grandchild #18 !! I'm sure now that your wife has seen him/her she'll forget all about the fact she missed the birth.
Gary is cute ... the sunset, stunning!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Gary is a little sweetheart and your sunsets are always spectacular!
@joey - thanks - for both ;-)
@Krista - thanks Krista - turns out Gary's got lots of little friends - but they're all cute too ! And down here, sunset never seems to fail.
