(Day 215) The queen next door

As you can probably tell from some previous posts I'm enthralled by the plants, flowers, and trees that grow here in the subtropics. So I'm always walking around making photos of them, likely to the amusement of some of the locals who think they're no big deal.

Next door to us are some very stately palm trees, with exotic-looking fruit hanging from them in big bunches. I checked on the web and I believe they're called queen palms. At any rate, I liked them enough to feature them for today's post.

I am sorry that there are no palm trees where I live. I too like them very much and with those fruit of golden color palm trees look even more beautiful, interesting and charming. Beautiful photos you posted!

I've never seen any like these. Very attractive. Are those berries good for anything or do they just produce new Queen Palm seeds? I'm glad you shared these.

@MedaM - thank you; I had never seen fruit like this on a palm tree before - I'd only ever heard of and seen coconut palms.

@CarreraCaballo - they do look appetizing, although I don't know if people can eat them. Thanks Joseph.

@Scott - it appears there are diverging opinions on whether the fruit is edible. I don't have any personal experience, but they do look appetizing.

@Ruth's Photo Blog - thanks Ruth; the colour caught my eye in the early morning light (which I'm usually not up to see).
