We had a white wicker set that we were quite fond of, and it traveled with us across Canada when we moved from Alberta. It sat on our front porch here and saw a lot of use. However, it started to deteriorate and despite efforts to repair the arms and other parts, it was replaced and made its way to furniture purgatory - the place a ways behind the house where old furniture seems to gather awaiting the inevitable toss into a bonfire.
I happened by it today whilst cutting the several acres of lawn that needed attention after two weeks of neglect. I noticed that nature itself had decided to hasten the demise of the settee - plants had punched holes through the wicker which now served as a brace against the wind. I'm not sure whether there will be anything left for the fire soon.

Your beloved wicker suite has now been claimed by mother earth herself. Makes for a great photo.
Sorry I haven't been around for a while but again life has been soooooo busy.
@Katherine - thanks Katherine - the yellow potentilla growing through it caught my eye, but I didn't think that bright colours would go well together with demise, so I chose b&w.
Welcome back, I fully understand the busy life part. Drop by when you can - thanks.
That is quite a subject! I am always fascinated by scenes like this and to capture them through a lens is all the better. Color or black and white...fabulous!
Awesome for a photo opportunity Rick and what a great picture this love seat has made with mother nature taking over. If this settee could talk, it's traveled a few miles and the stories would be awesome I bet!
please Rick, keep it ! it's really beautiful !
love this image so much - la nature a choisi
ce fauteuil pour s'épanouir (excuse me but it's to hard for me to write this in english lol)
bisous
Lovely Black and White photo - Another keeper :-)

Neat shot Rick! Its amazing what can 'make a neat pic' eh! I love to see 'the unexpected'
makes for a fun photo!!
Great photo- I look at it like "nature vs man...." nature always wins! I've taken photos of plants taking over roads, old trucks, houses,
etc.
it's kind of lovely how it's become one with nature.
great mono!!
Beautiful in it's demise.
Blessings,Ruth
liebe Grüße von Jasmin, die schmückenden Blumen und Blätter haben es für sich entschieden, und du hast es bemerkt, wie schön...
Leave it there Rick, its perfect.
Really nice capture, and the b&w treatment really works for this subject.
@Carolyn Ford - thanks Carolyn; I'm seeing things I never would have seen before.
@darlin - ha ha, yes, I'm sure it would have some stories. My son really wants to burn it - he's a pyromaniac ;-) but I think I'll let it settle in for the long term.
@marty - thank you marty; nature sure has a way of beautifying things. I'll resist any urge to get rid of this. Bisous !
@CarreraCaballo - thank you Joseph.
@bonifer - I agree; not sure I would have thought of looking there but it certainly caught my eye when I was mowing. Thanks !
@becky - thanks becky; I agree that the juxtaposition (phew, my $10 word for the day) of old and new can make for a great shot. I'm going to look for an auto junkyard one of these days.
@chasity - thanks Chasity; I have the same photo in colour but found b&w more effective.
@Ruth's Photo Blog - thank you Ruth - maybe some things don't reach their peak until their demise is imminent.
@jasmin - danke, Jasmin. Like so many 'beautiful' scenes it was just waiting to be noticed. Have a lovely weekend.
@imac - I'll tell my son - mac says 'hands off!' ;-)
@Scott - thank you Scott.
Wow, I remember when we used to sit on that bench. It looks good in black and white!!
@Julia - yes, I remember too - in the hot tub room in Calgary ! Thanks Julia.
