It was one of those beautiful summer evenings that you often envision when you're huddled near the wood stove in the deep of winter. There were almost no clouds in the sky, the sun shone warmly, and the air was very calm. We'd had an early dinner in Merrickville, and it was the perfect time for an evening stroll along the Rideau Canal that runs through the middle of the village. The last boaters were just making their way through the locks. Here are a few glimpses along the canal.

Your words remind me to remember to appreciate the rest of summer... before we know it winter will be here & we'll be wishing for those warm summer days! Love the water shots.
A few years ago I was introduced to the word "riparian" in a British comedy television show. This is an excellent riparian post.
I love the golden light in all of them but the tumbling water, like a curtain, is my favorite. That is so nice enlarged.
schöne Wochenendgrüße von Jasmin, das Schleusen Foto ist sehr schön, bei uns denkt man langsam an den Spätsommer, die Sonne meint es nicht mehr all zu gut...
Rick,that last picture is breathtakingly beautiful.The evening light gives such a warmth to the images.
Blessings,Ruth
these photos are very very nice and the light
was so beautiful ! love all of them
bisous Rick
Nice Boat - Yours?
I love long exposured photos of running water :-)
Greetz,
Joseph
@becky - thanks Becky; I always come back to my archives in the winter just to look at shots like these - I can always remember where and when I made my photos - puts me right back there!
@Scott - yes, I recall that word from my high school days; Parks Canada holds riparian rights where I made these photos. Thanks Scott - nice pun too ;-)
@Carolyn Ford - thanks Carolyn; I didn't have my tripod and the light was getting low so I got on the ground to steady the camera to make the shot - I like the silky look from the slow shutter speed.
@jasmin - dankeschön!
Yes, we can slowly see the sun set a little earlier every evening. But, we're still enjoying summer - don't want to think about winter. yet.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
@Ruth's Photo Blog - thank you Ruth; the water in the canal was almost completely still; I was surprised by the colour of the leaves, and I love reflections.
Have a blessed Sunday.
@marty - merci marty! Evening light is my favourite - I'm not up early enough usually for morning light ;-)
Bisous !
@CarreraCaballo - ha - I wish! ;-)
Thank you Joseph; hope your weekend is splendid!
Beautiful Rick, wonderful time cruising down the canal.
Waterfalls are a favorite of mine ...
Wow! I love your shots once again Rick, your shots never disappoint, ever! It's so hard to pick one as a favorite of the three you have posted; I love waterfalls and reflections and the first photos is stunning with the deep greens and just the right amount of light. I'm glad that you posted all three.
@imac - thanks mac; wish it WERE me cruising down the canal - I cruised along the footpath :)
@S. Etole - glad to see you're back, even if only for a short time; thank you, also a favourite of mine.
@darllin - thank you Darlene. This 365 is a real challenge some days to come up with something interesting. I love that small village - there's always something to see and make photos of.
Have a great weekend, well, what's left of it.
Wonderful photos ... the latter is a dream ... thanks for sharing a beautiful moment.
Kisses and a sun light, honey!
@teca - thank you teca; always wonderful to 'see' you here and read your kind words.
