Pack a lunch, bring some chairs, and settle back on one of the beaches in Venice (Florida, not Italy). It's summertime - the living is easy, the weather is hot and humid, and the tourists are few. You'll almost have the beach to yourself.
We sat in the shade of the Australian pines and did what you can only do when it's 34C/94F - nothing. Well, we did walk out on the jetty to see what the few fishermen were catching - not much, besides plenty of sun. And we took in the beauty of the place.

Now that sounds like an invitation Rick & if distance wasn't such a huge issue I'd be there. I'd love to come and sit by the water there with my husband, you & you're wife and share a bottle of red! Sounds perfect! Your photos are gorgeous.

It was comfortable there Ruth in the shade with a little sea breeze - we only walked to the end of the jetty to see the fishermen, then back to the chair !

oh good, i'm glad you have some australian pines to shade you - quite necessary this time of year. the park services are killing the aussie pines around here - i guess they're a "non-native" species, but sheesh! they are SO beautiful, and we need all the shade trees we can get!

Ahh ... we just got back from the beach and the whole idea is to just sit ... watch the people, birds, and sunsets. We had a great time. Hope you did too.
