Venice Venture

Pack a lunch, bring some chairs, and settle back on one of the beaches in Venice (Florida, not Italy). It's summertime - the living is easy, the weather is hot and humid, and the tourists are few. You'll almost have the beach to yourself.

We sat in the shade of the Australian pines and did what you can only do when it's 34C/94F - nothing. Well, we did walk out on the jetty to see what the few fishermen were catching - not much, besides plenty of sun. And we took in the beauty of the place.

Now that sounds like an invitation Rick & if distance wasn't such a huge issue I'd be there. I'd love to come and sit by the water there with my husband, you & you're wife and share a bottle of red! Sounds perfect! Your photos are gorgeous.
If the weather is good this weekend I intend on doing pretty much the same thing. Have a wonderful, restful weekend. Cheers from the Land of OZ!

That's beautiful. Seems like it would be a lot busier with tourists...I'd be there if I could!

Katherine - that would make for a wonderful weekend - although short what with 24 hour flights to get here ;-) We'll make it a virtual get-together then. Hope you enjoy your weekend getaway !

Hi Su and thank you for your warm words. Some days are better than others as we take a bit of a break from 'normal'. I trust you will have a wonderful and peaceful weekend. Hugs and many beijos for you !

Ha ha - thanks, Nancy. The coolness might be appreciated but we had 3" of rain in a couple of hours yesterday, so will have to decline that offer ;-)

Merci Marty, and ou la la - 37C !!! Cela est très chaud !! I hope you were able to stay a little cool, non ? If not, I send you some very cool bisous for a wonderful weekend !

Stewart - if you come, I'll have the cold beer waiting !!

It was comfortable there Ruth in the shade with a little sea breeze - we only walked to the end of the jetty to see the fishermen, then back to the chair !

Ah, you're enjoying summer in the city (hopefully not a la Lovin' Spoonful) Elizabeth. And yes, in the winter season, Venice is crawling with tourists.

Thank you, Mariiana !

That third picture is just stunning.

oh good, i'm glad you have some australian pines to shade you - quite necessary this time of year. the park services are killing the aussie pines around here - i guess they're a "non-native" species, but sheesh! they are SO beautiful, and we need all the shade trees we can get!

Ahh ... we just got back from the beach and the whole idea is to just sit ... watch the people, birds, and sunsets. We had a great time. Hope you did too.

Wow, those are some stunning photo's! I would absolutely love to go there! There are so many places I want to visit in my life, haha.

Sorry for the lack of comments, been trying to get used to juggling around time to comment on blogs as well as work and such.

Obrigado, Soraia !

Thank you, Farmchick.

Hi Leslie - yes, we heard that they're being removed; what a shame ! How long do they have to live somewhere before they can be considered 'native' ? We sure enjoyed their shade !

Thank you very much, Fábio.

Absolutely, Laura ! We did that too, although we left before sunset time (however, we made up for that tonight !).

Thank you, Susan !

Ha ha - add this place to your bucket list, Saz ;-) Thank you. And I know about trying to find time for blogging, commenting, work ... Hope you have a great week !
