Coming to an end

There's a trite but true saying that all good things must come to an end, and so it is with the spectacle of autumn's magnificent colours. I'm sure that there are still places where the rain and strong winds haven't left barren limbs reaching for a gray sky, but those are disappearing quickly. I had a last opportunity to load up a memory card with autumn memories this past weekend. Accompanied by one of my daughters, who has recently taken up photography, and 3 canine friends, we braved sullen skies and a steady drizzle to make a trek into the woods.

The leaves will continue to fall and carpet the ground until a hard frost is followed by the first snowfall which in turn will cover everything under a soft blanket. Then life will slow down and rest for several months, until the cycle begins again. And we can be as assured of that as of His faithfulness.

Rick as I look at your photos I have mixed emotions; joy from being mesmerized with such beauty and sadness for the parting season. Magnificent shots! What a phenomenal way to spend time with your daughter. Have a wonderful week!

Nice accompanying text. I agree with him. Beautifully captured the gold you fall. Soon the trees will not. Going to snow and rain. So how is it with us alternately. I wish you peace, perhaps more at home than outside. Peter

Wonderful post Rick,. and what super shots to go with this.

You can never take too many pictures said...

Wow Just amazing shots Rick, Sorry I haven't visited in a while, but better late than never!!!! Did you find at your end of Ontario that the colors went so quickly!!!! Just about an hour south of us the colors lasted much much longer!!!! The leaves were not very healthy looking with dried up edges and many small holes and rust, I guess the drought in Aug. didn't help!...

It's just about over here too Rick.

Heavy rains and wind are forecast for the next 2 days, so that will be sure to finish it for us. It really has been a beautiful and uncharacteristically mild autumn though.

You surely captured some gorgeous photographs to say good-bye to the season.

Thank you, Lúcia ! It was a beautiful place, despite the drizzle.

And I'm still learning how to create collages. Thanks Tricia, and I look forward to seeing yours.

Thank you, Marty. This was a place my daughter knew about - with a large variety of interesting things and scenes. I came over to see your interesting and beautiful photos - yes, just like spring all over again ! Have a wonderful semaine with many spring-like bisous ;-)

Buenos días, Jose - gracias for your visit and very kind comment ! I hope to see you here again soon.

Obrigado, Fábio !

Thank you, Hilda - we've had a great autumn, although the colours are leaving quickly now.

Hi Darlene - yes, the clock is ticking and autumn is slipping away. In spite of the rain, my daughter and I had a great time out there. Have a great week too !

Thank you very much, Ruth (I only pressed a button and had nothing to do with the scenery ;-)

Thanks for understanding, Tricia - hopefully next week I'll have very fast access and can visit much more regularly.

There were so many opportunities to capture the colours, Betty - I didn't want to leave it at 1 or 2 photos. Thank you.

Hi Saz - thank you; I had a wonderful time capturing them, although we did get a little wet ;-) Have a super rest-of-the-week !

Obrigado, Rodrigo - and I've been over to see your blog; very interesting with beautiful photography.

Thank you very kindly, Torunn, I also enjoyed visiting your blog very much.

Vă mulţumesc, Peter (I hope the translator is working). Yes, we were blessed with much gold on the trees and glad I could capture some of it - it's fading quickly. I wish you a wonderful week.

You're quite welcome Soraia (I'm catching up) - and thank you too !

Thank you, Stewart; we had a lot of wind and more rain the day after these shots were made, so I think we're done now too.

Hi Sue - nice to have you drop by again. I was just over at your blog. drooling. Thank you for your nice words. Yes, I'd noticed that in our neck of the woods the trees looked tired and the colours weren't as brilliant - we've had a very dry summer (our 15' dug well is dry as a bone). Today's photos were taken near Barrie, and most of my previous autumn photos were taken about 45 mins west of here where things weren't as dry. Alas, our colours are now gone too. Hope to 'see' you again soon.

Hi Lisa - the wind and rain has pretty much done in our colour extravaganza - but it was a sight while it lasted ! Thank you - I'm glad I had the opportunity to capture some memories.

Thank you, Cloudia - I'm glad I was able to help, and you made my day better with your comment ! Aloha !

I could just dissapear in the colors of this forrest. The orange will give me the perfect hiding place. Can I come hide?

Love them all Rick.
And thanks again for the wonderful and wise words your mom would spoke out to me!
Liefs Dag

dear friend, its hard to believe that it is so real, what a wonderful places and pictures... I wish I could walk around to these grounds, sit there and read a book, write a poetry... I have no words to express those places...

I think "God" would be a perfect word...

Hugs from here!

Hello Rick!

Yes! We have a slightly different saying in Portugal "Não há mal que sempre dure nem bem que nunca acabe".
Actually, we're still having nice and warm "Summer" days although in the early mornings and late afternoons we can definitely feel the difference.
The amazing thing about Autumn are the colours.
Look at your gorgeous photos ! OMG!

Your collage is also superb.
Thanks
Hugs

Ha ha, Dag - I could hear you singing while hiding in the forest though - "Oranje boven, Oranje boven ..." ;-)

Danke Jasmin. Our autumn has been lovely with lots of gold, red, orange ... Hopefully I can visit soon although my internet isn't working well now.

Thank you, Laura - yes, it's been beautiful but it's totally over now.

Hi Su - thank you for stopping by and leaving your nice words. It was a beautiful place to walk around (covered with our raincoats) but you wouldn't have been able to sit there on that day. On a dry day, however - absolutely a grand place to do what you suggested. Surely a place where God was present. I hope your week is going very well.

Isn't it the truth, Elizabeth ! I was waiting for the colors to appear and before I knew it, it was all over !

Hello Ana - very nice to hear from you. Ah, that is a wise (and realistic) saying indeed ! So nice that you're still able to enjoy the last of summer. Our autumn has now definitely turned towards winter - very cold, wet, and windy today. But we sure enjoyed its short-lived beauty. Thank you for your kind words, and I wish you a good week.

Thank you very much Lasse. I shall be over for a visit as soon as my internet permits.

Thank you very much, Cindy.
