On the road again ...

I'm quite fond of driving and don't find it a daunting task to spend a couple of days on the road. I'm the one behind the wheel on our road trips because (according to my wife) I make a bad passenger. I consider a road trip successful if it's uneventful i.e. no traffic surprises, no weather surprises, and no bedbugs ! And I'm always thankful that our guardian angel flies as fast as we do.

We were again blessed with beautiful fall scenery as we travelled south through the country from New York State to Florida. Here and there my trusty Canon was able to slow (most of) the pixels down from 120kph / 75mph to give you a glimpse.

(I used an 18-55mm lens, kept the aperture at f5.6 and ISO at 200 with various shutter speeds)

What a nice journey!
The last shot is the kind of view I could spend hours admiring. :)

Wow, wow and wow! Now that's quite the road trip Rick and you're taking photos with your Canon while driving? I'm not that brave... not all the time, but the P&S, sure why not when nobody's looking! lol

I love the photo of the trees, the one which is blurred in the foreground but clear in the back, now that's a stunning capture... mind you all of your photos are!

Have a great week, time to post and hit the hay on this end. I have a long day tomorrow... sigh.

I loved it to drive in the US on those empty roads with the woods aside. Lovely with those fall colours.

Glad to hear your traveling went well. I always like being the passenger so I can look at scenery. You did a great job capturing some!

I find that my 18-55mm is very versatile and use it quite often.

Your photos are wonderful, Rick. Really shows the change of the landscapes as you moved south. :)

Thank you, Lúcia - one of my favourite views too, especially when it's cold up north and the snow is flying !

Thank you, Farmchick - seems even nicer now what with the early snow in the northeast !

Ha ha, Darlene - shhh, don't tell too many people (it's easier to do it myself than direct my wife where to compose; besides, she shoots in automatic and the flash usually comes on ...). I loved that one with the fast-flying pixels too - took a few attempts and I got lucky. And the header I just shot at the harbour 2 nights ago - it's always beautiful there. I'll be over for a visit shortly - hope your week is off to a good start.

Hi Marianne - I do too, and the colours were still very nice as we drove south. Fijne woensdag.

Thanks, Elizabeth. Good thing I have 2 eyes - one for the road, the other to capture some road scenes ;-)

Thank you, Fábio !

Thanks (for both !), Tricia ! Sunset at the harbour.

Hi Lisa - thanks for your nice words. The drive was very enjoyable. Hope it'll be like that at Christmas too.

Well, sort of, Stewart - we're down south for a while, will head north for Christmas, and then back here. Thank you. Enjoy your trip !

I agree, Nancy - although it's a kit lens it does quite an admirable job (even at 75mph !). Thank you.

Thanks so much, Hilda !

It was beautiful, Saz - especially since we had no problems and the fall colours were still in full swing.

Obrigado, Soraia !

I don't think I've ever had a "window shot" worth keeping. You done real good! ;^)

Sorry I've been gone, my blog disappeared while I was in New England. I've put up a new one here to keep up for now.

ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Hard to believe you are back there again. Where does time go?!
Love that quick moving fall shot. It feels like the season DID just fly by!

Wonderful series of photos; beautiful landscapes and lovely fall colors! Depth of field and the low clouds make the first photo very impressive.
I too enjoy taking photos from the car but only while my husband is driving. But also it makes me angry if something interesting passes by before I manage to press the shutter or if a photo is not turned out well.
