(Day 102) The day Thou gavest ...

It had all the appearances of one of those glorious summer days, slowly drifting through twilight into the calm darkness of night. Had it not been for the somewhat brisk temperature you could easily mistake these photos for capturing that scenario - the soft light of the setting sun creating a dreamy sepia, the last light reflecting off the trees, and the sun sinking down behind the horizon.

So far (never say never - who would have thought images would one day be captured without film ?), imaging technology doesn't capture temperature as our hands do. In order to have a true experience then, place your hands in a bucket of cold water as you view these shots.

These photos are amazing Rick. It has been cold here as well. The sun is deceitful at times, it looks so warm out and the second I walk out the doors I get that spring time chill. At least I noticed today that almost all of the ice is gone from the river, that's a positive sign.

@darlin - thank you. We got a little spoiled a little while ago and now we're back to more spring-like temps - cool at night and 'warmish' (10-13C) during the day.

@Katherine - we had a glorious Easter weekend (28-30C !) but cooler now, still lots of sun - which sure beats Blah :) Thanks for your comments.

@Lisa - thank you; conditions were perfect for a canoe glide.

@cata - thank you. It was very peaceful out there - not another soul around, just Sasha and me enjoying the end of the day.

Well, that last sentence jolted me into reality. So very true... what we perceive to be true often isn't! A good photographer has the ability to portray a scene exactly as it was, or alter the reality in oh so many ways that the viewer does not realize. Very beautiful images Rick!!

Rick your sunset photos have a moody atmosphere about them.I'm in an area where we have great sunsets, and I know there can never be too many.I always enjoy your photos.

I like the softness you have conveyed ... like a gentle warmth in spite of the cold

@HBFG - it was one of those magical moments you didn't really want to end.

@Karen - thank you. I felt the chill while shooting (well actually I was quite engrossed and didn't feel chilled till after) but I noticed that the scenes could be interpreted quite differently once I'd loaded them. Thanks for dropping by - I'll come visit soon.

@Chad - thank you. I try not to do too many sunsets (is that possible ??) but when the opportunity is there I can't resist.

@S. Etole - thank you Susan. They struck me as warm too - and then I had to add a dose of reality :)
