By nature I'm not an early morning person. I saw an interesting quote on another blog recently that better expresses my feelings about early mornings: "If we were meant to pop out of bed in the morning, we'd all sleep in a toaster!" (or words to that effect).
However, I do acknowledge that there are rewards for getting up early (besides being the first one to get a worm and who cares about that unless you're a bird). The light for photography can be wonderful and often there are beautiful sunrises to enjoy and capture. I was up early this morning for another reason - to spray my apple trees. This can't be done when there's much of any breeze and usually there is little or no breeze in the very early morning. It was still early by the time I was done so I took the opportunity for a quick photo shoot.

I love those beautiful flower pictures. Heel mooi.
trout lilies or dog tooth violets?
i can't remember~ but they are lovely.
Beautiful, both shots and you're right about morning light.
@Riet - dank u wel Riet. Voorjaar is toch zo prachtig!
@chasity - thank you, and thanks for the lead - I googled both and from the other images I've seen it's tough to tell, but I'd give the edge to trout lily (both names are pretty cool though); perhaps someone else can positively identify it.
@POD - thank you POD; I don't often see early morning light but it is wonderful when I do :)
I love your first photo...I love them both but prefer the first one. I think that it's the purity of the white, or something.
With this type of lighting does this mean you just might get up a wee bit earlier some days now? :-)
@darlin - thanks; the light was great and I think contributed to the whiteness. I'll make it a point to get up early once a week (I have to - to spray the apples ! :) And we're talking 06:15 a.m. early - ouch!
Beautiful Apple Blossoms! Lovely photos Rick! The blossoms reminded me of something that happened about a decade ago. Where I live we used to have an acreage property behind us. We were on the edge of the suburb. They had horses in their paddock. We had a few apple trees, a lime tree & an orange tree in our back yard. The blossoms were out on the apple tree. One morning my sons (then little boys) had gone to play in the yard. They yelled out telling me there was a horse in the yard. And they were right...the horse had somehow negotiated the fence & had eaten nearly all the blossoms off the apple tree. I was not happy...but the kids thought it was fantastic. The horse was then coaxed with carrots back over his side of the fence.
Rick,you have a couple of very fine photos. I tend to like the first photo. How it shows both the bud and blossom together. Your pictures never disappoint.
Very pretty photos. That will teach you to get up early ;). I really like the "Wild Plums", but both are very nicely done.
Thanks for the early pictures that have made my day. Another beautiful sign of spring and I needed it after having very bad weather for days.
How lovely, Rich. I think you captured a beautiful trout lily in the 2nd photo.
@Katherine - thank you. Sad story about your apple blossoms - I guess that horse didn't win 'apple of your eye' award. Hopefully he didn't learn to eat your apple blossoms in order to be rewarded with carrots! :)
@Chad - thank you.
@Scott - thanks. I've learned my lesson re: early morning - shall only repeat it if necessary :)
@M - thank you; hopefully your weather has improved - it looked like it judging by your photo from yesterday.
@joey - thank you; and thanks for confirming it's a trout lily - wonderful name :)
Its partly cloudy, but still very cold winds.. Luckily the winds don't show on the photo ;)
Beautiful spring shots Rick.
@M - better days to come M.
@imac - thank you.
