I always find it amazing how quickly a newborn goes from being little more than a completely helpless baby to a (still) little human being who can react to and interact with their environment. Today our almost-4-month-old grandson, Graydon, came over for a visit (he's 17 lbs and doesn't drive yet, so yes, his parents brought him). Of course we had a great time with him - it's always great as grandparents because someone else gets to feed and clean him and take him home again :)
His surname, translated literally from Dutch, means 'the sweet one'. I think you'll agree, based on this photo, that he lived up to his name and underscored the point in my first sentence (that's his dad's dessert he's eyeballing).

Now, I don't know if you're familiar with Scott's blog 'Finding Another View'. Scott celebrates and invites others to celebrate Sundays by posting a sunset shot. Where I live we're not blessed with fabulous sunset opportunities on the same regularity he is, but I thought this evening's was worthy of being posted. So to make up for lost opportunities I'll post 2 shots.

Graydon is most definitely a sweet little boy...you are truly blessed! And who doesn't like cake?? He knows a good thing when he sees it for sure.. bet he can't wait to sink his new little teeth into the real stuff!
Your sunset pictures are gorgeous, as are all the other gorgeous photos you post of your place.Yes...2 wonderful gifts indeed. Enjoy Rick!!
Those are glorious sunsets Rick, I'm really glad you posted them. However, no sunset will ever match the joy and beauty of our babies. God loved us enough to let us care for His children, and he made us so we would love them no matter what. Ain't grandkids the best??? You've got a keeper there. Hey, thanks for the shout out on Sunset Sunday. :-)
I would have liked seeing a picture 30 seconds after he got ahold of the dessert. Also your sunset pictures are beautiful. You will have to continue showing them to us every Sunday.
Looks like a beautiful Sunday all the way around ... I'm with Chad on the cake!
@Katherine - LOL - he probably won't wait for teeth before he tries cake :) Thanks for your comments Katherine - we do feel richly blessed.
@Scott - well said Scott - I don't think anything surpasses having children, except grandchildren :) They are truly a blessing from God - too bad so many others in the world can't see that.
You're welcome re: Sunset Sundays - I think it's a grand idea and will continue to participate when I can.
@Chad - his dad wouldn't let him touch it :( I call that selfishness :) I'll keep looking for opportunities to participate in Sunset Sundays - fabulous idea.
@S. Etole - alas, it never came to pass - he'll have to bide his time. Yes, another blessed Sunday, in many ways!
That is a very cute picture, but I agree with the others, that Mike should've shared with Graydon!!!
Soooooooooo cute pics :)
The photos of the sunsets are beautiful, but your grandson is super cute. You must be a proud grandpa.
@Julia - I tried to get him to share, but you know Mike ... :)
@Short Poems - thank you Marinela. Saw your poem to your father - very nice, and well-written. Thanks for stopping by to comment.
@M. Hassan - thank you M; ik ben zeker een trotse opa!
What a great picture of your grandson, Rick! The expression on his face is priceless. I bet he's saying, "If only I were 10 months old." LOL! Wonderful sunset shots, too. The colors are so intense.
@Lisa - yes, we couldn't believe the faces he was making at the cake; how could he have even known ? LOL - he'll be eating that before long!
We finally had the right conditions for a beautiful sunset. Thank you.
Awww, Graydon sure does live up to his name, a real sweet one for sure! Such a cutie.
Beautiful sunset photos Rick, I think that I love the sunsets because to me that's God's way of slowly letting me know it's nearing bedtime and I can rest assured that He is nearby. :-)
@darlin - I think he'll give his cousins a run for the money (our 2 granddaughters, 3 & 5). LOL re: sunsets - they always remind me of the hymn 'The Day Thou Gave Us Lord Has Ended' - see 3rd shot here.
