We had another weird-weather day. The only thing we didn't get was snow. The forecast was for partly cloudy skies, but we started the day off with rain, then clearing with strong winds, then a brief but violent thunderstorm, followed by more clearing. Towards dinnertime it started raining again, but the sun was shining brilliantly. I ran to grab my camera to try and capture this phenomenon but when I got outside the rain had stopped, and instead there was a 'sign' from heaven that reminded me of a promise made long ago.
After dinner I walked over to our lilac 'woods' (there's at least an acre of them) to capture them before they're gone again. The air was heavy with their fragrance - surely heaven must smell like this!

LIlac woods, that must be spectacular, great shots.
Hi, very beautiful flowers. Thanks for visiting my blog and kind comments.
Lilac woods ~ I'm sure it IS Heavenly!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the rainbow and the lilacs are beautiful!
Couldn't be lovelier, Rick ... love that rainbow!
Its hard to capture a rainbow, very nice photo. I really like the photos of the lilacs. Floral shots just make spring more special.
Looks more like spring to me ;).
I was wondering if you captured the full rainbow, because I think that would be an amazing show. I tried it once and I think I still have it, but it was a bit dark for my liking.
Nice flora shots too.. Well done!
You can almost feel the spring that is in the air. The lighting in that second one is so soft.
@Katherine - thanks for coming by and having a look Katherine. I really got lucky on that rainbow (sometimes the best shots are unplanned!). Enjoy your weekend too!
@Riet - yes, we're so lucky that they've spread so nicely and thank whoever planted the first one.
@dragan valentina - thank you too, and you're welcome - it was my pleasure.
@Kerri - rainbows are WONDERful to behold - I always go out to look at them. This capture was unintentional - I thought I'd get some shots of the rain falling through the sunshine. And we love our lilacs - we'd like to keep them around all summer !
@joey - thank you joey. Sometimes ya get lucky :)
@Chad - I managed to get a few shots of it before it was gone again; I liked this one best. And spring is just such a great time with all the new blooms.
What an amazing photo of the rainbow Rick, awesome capture! I love the lilacs as well and the smell I am waiting to savor here.
@M. Hassan - no I didn't get it end-to-end - I don't think my lens is wide enough (18mm on a crop sensor so = 29mm; will have to add the 10-22mm lens to my collection. some day). Thanks for your comments.
@S. Etole - with all the colour and fragrance of the blooms, there's no doubt spring has arrived in all her splendour! That 2nd shot was my favourite of the lilac shots. Thank you Susan.
These are all b-e-a-utiful shots Rick!

@darlin - something weird happened with blogger - didn't see your comment at the time; but - thank you. Hope you get to smell your lilacs soon!
@Photog Ave - thanks Avery. Hope you had a great weekend!
Sounds like you have Yukon weather! If you don't like it, wait five minutes! ;o)
An ACRE of lilacs?! That's unreal! How neat! Ours won't be blooming for another month or so.
@Krista - Alberta weather always kept us on our toes but I didn't think Ontario was supposed to be like that! I think someone planted a few lilacs years ago here and they've simply spread unimpeded - we love them.
Beautiful blooms make me wish spring lasted longer, and the lovely rainbow was a beautiful gift!
@Karen - I agree; spring is but a fleeting moment which we want to capture and hold for a long time - similar to the rainbow.
