Today was demolition day. Not a day to measure twice and cut once, but rather to take apart, with force if necessary. And that's how an opportunity to make a few photos for today's post came about. You see, my son and his wife are planning extensive renovations to their home - including the kitchen, dining and living rooms, and bathroom. I went there early (well, relatively early) to help with removing everything, down to the bare studs. But when I got to his place I couldn't help but notice the beautiful wild flowers growing among the walnut trees at the back of his property. Since ABC rules were in effect, I made some photos of the phlox (sorry, bad pun in title) that grew there in large swaths. (And then, of course, we got down to 'real' work).

What beautiful flowers, do you know if they grow very well here in Alberta or will I have to google that? I'm tired and lazy, it's been a long day as I'm sure it has for you as well. Demolitions are so much fun, exhausting but fun!
@darlin - they are lovely flowers, and fragrant too, but I don't think I ever saw them in Alberta. Yep - long day and I'm relaxing by visiting blogs, catching up on comments, and listening to music (ever heard of Eva Cassidy ? you'd love her music).
Hi Rick, I've got these beauties too. Arn't they great? To bad you didn't got us any photos of you covert in dust and sweat...maybe next time.
Do sit down and relax your Douwe Egberts coffee (I much rather have your Tim Hortons...)So let's switch places.
Hugs Dag.
Heya Rick...well I'm guessing that your catching some Zzz's there after all that hard yakka today with the demolitions!
Its Tuesday evening here & I have just finished a long day at work! Its been a dreary, dark day here in the land of OZ...rainy day! Yours was the first blog that I caught up on this evening , so to see such a beautiful blooms is nice & refreshing.... it also appears that the sun is shining too! Sleep well!
@Barefoot from Heaven - LOL, sorry - no pictures of me covered in dust and sweat, although I was! But I do of my son, of course. And I also have a couple of pictures of him after he was doused with water when disconnecting the dishwasher - the shut-off valve didn't work!! :-)
I'm enjoying a Douwe Egberts right now - I don't even like Timmy's! We'll have to settle for a virtual switch right now :) Hope you're having a great day Dag!
@Katherine - sounds like you're heading well into your fall season. Does it usually get cool/cold there then ? (Yes, I was certainly catching a few needed zzz's when you commented). We're headed into summer - actually, I think it's already here 'cause it's hot (33C), and the sun was/is shining gloriously. We'll send some of it your way - will be there Wed. morning :-) Hope your day will be better!
WOW Rick! I love these. Phlox eh? I don't think we have that here! I could be wrong.. happens often enough.
Anyway - I find my camera distracts me from chores all too often. It starts out with a whisper "hey, see the way the sun hits that leaf?" and then if I don't immediately oblige, it works its way to a holler. "YO! PICK ME UP AND TAKE SOME PICTURES!!!!" lol
So its another flower day. Lovely DoF on the last one and a good composition on the first. Your kid is lucky to have a father that is there when needed.
@Krista - I think I tried some in my garden when I lived near Calgary but I don't think they fared that well. Here in Ontario they grow wild.
LOL - I agree that my camera often says the same things to me. Funny thing is my wife can't hear it telling me that, and it gets me into trouble ! :-)
Thanks for stopping by Krista - hope your holiday in Alaska is going well!
@M. Hassan - thank you M - I did have a few other photos I could have posted (related to the demolition) but in the end the flowers won out :)
I'll tell my son you mentioned that - although he is grateful, of course.
Hope your weather was better today.
Beautiful, vivid colors, Rick.
Nice flowers Rick, and dont get too tired working hard.
Hey Rick the sun arrived bright & early this morning...thanks for sending it our way! Rain clouds gone now but I still feel a little under the weather myself. Might take a good book and curl up in the sun for a while...thats after I take my son to school. No work Wednesday for me! Cheers K
@POD - thank you; I agree, and the fragrance was lovely!
@imac - thanks mac; I'll let my son know I have my orders from you :-)
@Katherine - well, you're quite welcome; it's a trick I learned from Krista. Sounds like you have the cure for what ails you - have a speedy recovery! And may the sun keep shining ;-)
We're always in the right place at the right time if we're just aware. These are beautiful.
Rick, thanks I'll google her and let you know what I think. I've also got a song for you but have to find it here, it's not on the net but it's an amazing song. I'll get it to you one of these unbusy days, if there's such a thing in my world! lol
@Jeanne - yes, 'seeing' is everything! Thanks for dropping by, and your comments.
@darlin - look forward to it. Let me know what you think of Eva.
