I made a little trip back to a
favourite spot today. As I wandered (carefully) further into the forest, I got some curious glances from people in a pickup truck slowly making its way up the lane. Fortunately they could pass since I'd pulled my car as close to the trees as possible. Neither they nor I expected to see someone in such a secluded spot. They went on and left me to enjoy this little piece of paradise. Hopefully you'll enjoy along with me ...

I think this is a black damselfly - there were many of these in
the forest.

The damselfly got to be one of your best shots so far. Everything just fell into the right place. The DoF and sunlight is just awesome. Love the other photos, but my favorite is already known by now ;)
All of the photos are great Rick, as usual. I love spots like this too. So green & mossy. They evoke memories of our visit to O'Reilly's where almost everything on the forest floor has moss growing on it. I can almost smell the moist leaf litter from here.

Rick I love these photos, mind you I love almost all of your photos! :-) I felt like I was out walking alongside of you as I viewed these astounding photos... awesome shots once again!
I love it in the country when there's only two vehicles and each of you surprise one another, that beats the heck out of coming home in rush hour traffic where almost nothing surprises me anymore.
Oh Rick ...these are fantastic!! I believe your sweet little creature is an ebony jewelwing damselfly. They are such beauties and you got an AMAZING shot of it. Super post!
Very pretty photos. I keep talking about getting out to take some spring pictures in the mountains,but there is no spring yet they are still buried in snow.The dragonfly is great,like the long spindley legs, and dof.
@Photog Ave - it's literally 'green heaven' there - above your head and beneath your feet. I'm going to enjoy seeing what each season brings there. (I might use a little bug spray next time though :)

@darlin - next time I'm out there I'll take you along on a 'virtual' walk :) To get to this place I have to drive on an unmaintained 1-lane dirt road (see pic #1 here). Yep - sure beats the hustle and bustle of the city - "wild horses couldn't drag me away" from the country!

@Chad - thanks Chad. Ah but the mountains, and sunsets, are so beautiful there! I remember when I lived near Calgary (hour's drive from the mountains) we'd have to wait till late May/early June before the spring melt really got underway. Then the flowers grew like mad since they have a fairly short season - the mountain meadows were then unbelievable! Look forward to your mountain flower shots.
You are so prolific with your photos, and even then they are all so enjoyable to look at. These are certainly no exception. I was trying to get some close ups on what we call Box Elder bugs yesterday, without much luck, I love your damselfly, but I love the moss photos also, and yes I see the face. Great job again.
@Scott - it's a little 'problem' I have when I'm in a beautiful place - there's just so much to capture. Thanks for your comments, and good luck getting that Box Elder bug - look forward to seeing it if you can get it.
Looks like some of my neck o the woods, Rick. Except we don't have the damselflies and no insects as beautiful as that photo. Amazing!

I am really loving green these days. Green=LIFE and you've captured it magnificently in these shots. I love how the shadows are even green.
@POD - great to have a place like that to wander in, isn't it. We have no shortage of insects/bugs here! Maybe I'll set up an export business - frogs to Krista and damselflies to POD :)

@Krista - it is a super green place (other than last fall's leaves on the ground). I plan on going back there a little later in the year - and fall is just magnificent there!
