(Day 184) Time out

I think I passed a milestone of sorts with my last post and I didn't even realize it - I'm now past the 1/2 way point of my 365 project! I guess the saying is true - time flies when you're having phun!

Well, time flew yesterday too. We made a 800 km/500mi round trip to attend the wedding of a son of good friends of ours. It's a long weekend in Canada, as it is in the US, and since we both detest sitting in traffic jams, we decided to make the trek back home after the reception (we didn't stay right till the end). Better home late at night than spending hours fighting traffic during the day.

We weren't sure whether traffic would be heavy on our way there, so we allowed plenty of time to get there. Arriving an hour early, we decided to take a time out in a beautiful, idyllic park that my wife spotted near our destination.

What a pretty park! Those photos are so good that you can almost hear the water flowing over the spillway...must have been a nice little time out.

What a beautiful place to take a breath after a long trip Rick. I too will be attending a wedding faraway sometime soon but I will be flying as it is an 11 hour drive to Mackay from here.
Enjoy what remains of your long weekend!

@Katherine - it was a wonderful rest, and beautiful to walk through! Hope you enjoy your trip to your faraway wedding too (no flat tires!).

Have a great week - which I think is already underway.

@Scott - thanks Scott - sometimes we assume we'll always arrive home safely from a long trip, but we try to remember to be thankful when that's the case. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

What a lovely place to take some time out, I love the waterfall!

That's a lot of driving and a quick trip but it sounds as though it was well worth the drive!

Nice pics :-)

I don't like traffic jams at all, that is one reason why I decided to live and work in a small town where my transportation-life is dependent on a bicycle - Hehehe . . . :-D

Greetz,

Joseph

So beautiful! There is something so special and photogenic about water; even more so when it is moving and more again when it is falling!

Rick said...

@darlin - yes, had we the time, we would have spent more there. It was a quick trip but worth it NOT to be sitting in traffic!

@CarreraCaballo - great thinking Joseph especially if you can get work in a small town. We live outside a small village for the same reasons, but the wedding was in a large(r) city 400km away.

Rick said...

@imac - yes indeed, and we had the place all to ourselves too!

@Krista - thanks Krista - you're so right, which is one reason people are so attracted to rivers, waterfalls, oceans, drinks ... ;-)
