The heat wave we've been having this week finally broke when we got rain tonight. As a result I was limited in what I could shoot outdoors. But I recalled an exercise in Freeman Patterson's book 'Photography and the Art of Seeing' in which you are to take 20 steps out of your front door, draw an imaginary 20' circle, and make 20 photos within that circle. So, since I couldn't go out in the rain, I looked around from my front porch to see what I could shoot. I managed 23 photos, but I'll just post the one below, and save the others for another day.
NOTE: we are leaving on a family vacation tomorrow. I'm pretty sure there will be running water and electricity, but I'm not sure whether there will be any sort of internet access. So if you don't see any posts after tonight, then you'll know there isn't and I'll be back in a week. I will have my camera, of course, and will make photos each day - I'll have to catch up on posting them when we return if there's no internet access. And I'll catch up with all of you then too. Have a great week!

Perfection!! You even managed to catch the drip of water at the right time...just wonderful.
Have a great time on your little family break ... we'll all still be here when you return. Cheers & safe travels Rick!
Que sutileza... essa foto ficou linda! Especia!
Uma pergunta: gostaria que eu passasse a comentar em inglês?
Beijos e um ótimo fim de semana.
@Katherine - thank you Katherine. I think catching that drip was a bit of pure lucky timing - I didn't really see it until I downloaded from the camera. Thanks for your best wishes.
@teca - thank you teca! I run your comments through an online translator - works pretty well although sometimes the translation isn't real good - but I can get the gist of it. I'll leave it up to you.
Beijos.
Rick

Whoa...that is a beautiful capture! I have one of those lilies but it hasn't bloomed yet. This is a beauty, Rick!
Amazing shot as usual Rick, I love the droplet of water and noticed in your comment here that you didn't even notice it until you were viewing your photos, now that's being in the right place at the right time!
Have a wonderful vacation!

Nice Rick ! Enjoy your holiday !!
We needn't go far to find beauty ...
That is a beauty, and the drip on the end really made it better. Have fun on your trip. I'm headed out myself for a few days, and knowing I wouldn't have internet access of staged a few posts to go off while I'm gone. They were all your fault from my little wild flower trip.
beautiful flower..good tones!! regards
Hi there Rick, you've got an amazing porch view my friend. Hope you have a nice week, do enjoy like I'm enjoying this beauty. Great shot!
Hugs Dag.
très jolie photo - je te souhaite de belles
vacances - à bientôt -
What a gorgeous shot, Rick! Sometimes it's brilliant to try to get out in the rain. I don't usually like the hassle of trying to keep the gear dry but if you can be on the porch and still get water drops and fun shots like above... bonus! :o)
Pure Art Rick.
Beautiful shot, Rick. Have a great vacation.
I like the idea of taking the 20 shots from outside your house, must try that. As for the results of yours, 'fantastic'. The colour the composition and yes the added extra of the drip all come together to create this great photo.
Safe journey!
Awesome shot! Love the water drop, it added flare to the photo!
Nice shot!
