(Day 191) Child’s Delight

Sat. July 10, 2010

How far back does your memory go ? Do you remember events from when you were 2, or 3 ? What events made an indelible impression on your childhood memory ? I think my memory goes back to age 3 or 4, and I can certainly remember events from age 5. As adults we sometimes forget that we’re also directly responsible for helping shape our children’s memories - and we certainly don’t know what events of today will create a lasting impression.

I do hope that our trips to the cottage with family and extended family is making a positive impression on our grandchildren, at least those beyond the infant stage. I doubt that Graydon (6 months) will remember these days, but I think Lilly (age 3) and Hailey (age 5 ½) will certainly have memories of these family vacations. Today’s shot is about making some of those memories.

I remember doing that...and, my little grandson does the same at age 3 these days (and even much earlier). But, I sure hate those dandelions in my grass, though. This is a very sweet silhouette of a precious moment.

Rick you astound me with your shots, this is one of the best ones of yours I think that I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of your magnificent captures. I don't know if it's because of your granddaughter, the sunset, the combination of both or what but WOW!

@Carolyn Ford - I also remember the dandelion blowing - not sure how old I was. And I also don't like them in the lawn, although they look good in a photo! Thanks Carolyn.

@darlin - my granddaughter saw a large dandelion just off the road in the field; I just had to ask her to blow when I was ready and the timing with the sunset was just perfect. And we have a keepsake of the moment! Thanks for the kind comment.

It's nice to be back - I'll have some catching up to do.

I have vivid memories of visiting a stone house that had a big porch, and a palm tree out front. I described it to my parents years ago and they could not believe I remembered so many details, right down to what we ate for lunch there. I was 2 1/2.

Now if I could remember where I put my spare reading glasses!

@Seedplanter Designs - that's incredible ! I don't think I have memories from that age - but I sure understand the problem with finding the glasses - a daily occurrence !

Thanks for dropping by !
