Continuing my theme of making some night shots, I went into the nearest town late tonight. Near the beautifully restored courthouse, I found this fountain. I thought I had got there too late because as I was setting up, the fountain spluttered and then stopped. However, in less than a minute it started up again - and so it went for a while - off and on. At one point even some coloured lights came on. I think I may visit there again to capture some of the buildings at night.

Wow they turned out great. Looks like a great place to spend some time getting some cool shots.
Rick are you ever in the right place at the right time! These captures are spectacular and please do post more evening shots, if I see how it's done enough times I just might catch on! ;-)
@Scott - thanks Scott; there are some more places near there where I plan to visit. soon.
@darlin - thank you. It's not all that difficult, but nearly impossible without a tripod. The main difficulty I have is using autofocus (actually the camera has the difficulty) - I try to find a bright enough object for the camera to focus on that's about the same distance away as my subject, let autofocus set the focus, then switch the lens to manual focus. Usually works. Manual mode works best - choose your aperture, then set your shutter speed for a properly exposed photo - you can vary this a bit too depending on your preference. Give it a try!
The first photo is nice, I like the long exposure :-)

Pretty colors!
I've had a lot of fun lately taking night shots. While not many turn out the way I want them to,yours turned out great. I'll have to keep trying,just as long as the bugs leave me alone.
@CarreraCaballo - thank you Joseph!
@Biana - dank je wel Biana!
@Chad - I have to experiment a bit with the night shots esp. the focus (my eyes aren't that good through the little viewfinder). Would be interesting to see some of yours on your blog.
