Ode to my beloved

I knew the dreaded day might come,
Hoped I'd be spared, somehow,
To disappointment I succumb
And to chagrin I bow.

Technology is wonderful
When all works as it ought
But when it fails and comes up null
I'm really happy. NOT !

It started off so peacefully
Towards the end of day
A sunset, glowing beautifully
't would make my post Sunday.

Some shots were made, they were sublime,
The clouds began to shine
When suddenly, 't was like a crime
An ERRor 99 !

I stared at it for just a sec
This couldn't be for real,
Was this the end ? I had to check
If this was a big deal.

I turned it off, I turned it on,
The error wouldn't leave
That it was by now still not gone
I just could not believe.

Tonight my Canon's in the mail
I hope all will be well
I'll update you on this sad tale
When there is more to tell.

I will be relying on my archives for the next little while (at least I HOPE it's only a little while !).

(Day 323) Splish splash, I was having ...

... a blast ! It's Phun Phriday and I was at a park near the harbour while my wife did some Christmas shopping (who do you think was having more phun ?). By the way, it feels weird thinking about Christmas while the temperature is around 27C/81F - I mean, it should be snowing and blustery and about -5C/23F ! No matter, despite appearances neither Sasha nor I (nor the lens) got wet but we did have phun at the park and even got to see a(nother) possum - this time in the wild. He ambled off into the brush before I got his portrait, and before Sasha could get a taste of possum on the hoof. Hope you had some phun on your Phriday !

(Day 265) Our urn runneth over

If you want guaranteed weather for your next vacation, I can readily recommend Rhodes - at least in September. We're told that July and August are extremely hot, and there's lots of rain in the winter months, but September is perfect, unless you consider blue skies and warm (30+ C/86+ F) every day boring. Today was no exception, weather-wise, and we turned it into a recovery day from yesterday's adventure by lounging around at the beach until late afternoon.

Just before returning to our villa, we stopped at a lovely little spot in Faliraki, almost hidden from view across from a beach parking lot. (I don't know if this is considered an urn, but it was too large to call a cup).

(Day 206) Night spot - revisited

I got to the spot I had visited a few days ago a little late tonight, and so I'm posting late. This fountain caught my attention last time so I came back to shoot it tonight. It's an ornate Italian marble fountain, named the Fulford Fountain, after a prominent founding family. Here are a couple of views.

(Day 202) Night lights

Continuing my theme of making some night shots, I went into the nearest town late tonight. Near the beautifully restored courthouse, I found this fountain. I thought I had got there too late because as I was setting up, the fountain spluttered and then stopped. However, in less than a minute it started up again - and so it went for a while - off and on. At one point even some coloured lights came on. I think I may visit there again to capture some of the buildings at night.
