Lunch time

As we walked around with our guests today at one of our favourite spots, we happened upon this green-backed heron waiting patiently for his lunch to come within range. We watched him for a few minutes but his patience exceeded ours. Obviously he had more at stake.

Rick the colors in this are amazing, they're so crisp. It's like this bird was placed in the picture perfect pose (note the alliteration ;-)) and sat and waited for you to take your photos. I'm WOWED once again!

I have never seen that heron before! I find birds very difficult to photograph and you capture this one very well!

Oh, this is awesome, Rick! What a gorgeous bird. The tropical birds are so fascinating to me. I will 'make do' with Ravens though; they are pretty awesome as well. ;o)

Hope you're having a great Sunday!

My first experience with this bird was from this summer when I was enjoying a kayak cruise along the Niagara River then up along Frenchmen's Creek....I wish my shots were as good as this one....but hard using a zoom lens in a moving craft....the current was quit swift. We also came across a Blue and Great Heron....never saw that species as well...but again they flew off so quickly...you never see them until they see you.....Great Capture with yours!!!!!!

Thank you Ruth !

Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Tiago ! Your blog is lovely.

Thank you Laura - I agree, there are so many beautiful creatures. Until yesterday I'd never seen one of these either !

Love that alliteration, Darlene ! And thank you for your nice comment - so much easier to to get these shots when the bird is sitting still, waiting for his lunch ! Have a super Sunday !

Hey, thanks Krista ! I agree - every creature has something beautiful about it. I trust your Sunday is going as well as mine !

Thank you Susan - it sure helped that this one was just sitting there, very still. I wasn't aware that these birds ventured that far up north.
