No, I'm not trying to rouse any long dormant feelings about a tragic event. The plant shown below, which we purchased a few weeks ago, has an unusual name - 'confederate jasmine' (or 'star jasmine') - and I have no idea how it got its 'confederate' label. Apparently it isn't a true jasmine, but it does exude a fine fragrance, which makes it a star on our pool deck.

It definitely looks like a star. What a beautiful flower and great photo.
Beautiful flower and image! We have a yellow jasmine out atm which flowers twice a year
You take photos so beautiful :D
I do not care about the reason behind its name, I care about this: ONE AWESOME & SHARP CLOSE UP :-)
Greetz,
Joseph
Yes. We bought that same plant a few years ago, charmed by it's flower and fragrance. Planted it all along our back fence. And found out that ONE plant is perfect, but TEN plants filled with thousands of blooms in the springtime turn a lovely hint of fragrance into a cloying perfume : (
what a pretty sight ...
Woooow, excelent!!
Hey Rick! It's been so long! I hope
you are well. Your photos are so
lovely, but of course! This one is
no exception. :D
Such a great shot!
It is very pretty.
A very crisp photo.
Ahhh, this is one of my favorites of the garden. Mine usually blooms around April and I eagerly anticipate the blooms. I also added a night blooming jasmine last year and it actually survived the freezes. Its scent will envelope the entire patio. Can't wait!! Lovely shot, as always!
Lovely!
Very beautiful photo and very elegant flower !!!
Greetings
I love the softness of this image.
Elegance at its finest.

What a beautiful flower and poolside, now I'm envious! ;-)
Thank you very much, Elizabeth ! We really enjoy its fragrance, as well as the many blooms it puts out.
Thanks, Julia. I hope to add a night blooming jasmine soon.
Thank you, Soraia !
Thanks, Joseph ! (have I told you that I LOVE my 70-200mm lens ? ;-)
I'll keep that in mind, Leslie. We have one in a large container on the pool deck (which I keep trimmed) and another out in a flower bed. So far it's still 'perfume' I smell ;-)
Thank you, Susan.
Obrigado, Mariiana !

Thank you, Elvira. Yes, the fragrance is exquisite, and it blooms profusely !
No need to be jealous, Darlene - just sit back, relax, enjoy the fragrance and imagine yourself with feet dangling in the pool ! ;-)
Wow Jasmine has the most amazing fragrance... it is one of my favourite creeping vines & I also love the gardenia ... Lovely photo Rick!
Hi Katherine - I agree which is why we went out and got a couple. Thanks for your visit and comment, Katherine - I hope things are going better for you and yours.
Things are improving on the health front! My father in law is getting better slowly, he still has to have skin graft surgery but all in all he is a darn sight better than he was about 6 weeks ago that's for sure! Hope all is well with you and yours .. cheers Rick & thanks for asking :)
That's good news Katherine. I can't imagine going through all that you, your family, and so many others have. We're doing very well ... and more company coming (incl. granddaughters !).
Ah that will be lovely Rick .. time with the grandkids! Enjoy!
Thanks Katherine - the fun starts tonight when I pick them up at the airport at midnight ! Have a great week !
