Can you look at a photo you've made and know where you were, what you were doing, and perhaps even what you were thinking when you made it ? I can't claim that I can do it for all photos I've made and I certainly couldn't answer all 3 questions, but surprisingly I can for quite a number of them. Is that another definition of a photographic memory ?
I was on a hike in the fall with other family members up what is locally known as Blue Mountain (which is actually a tree-covered hill several hundred feet high - but when all the land around you is fairly flat you'd call a prominent bump on the landscape a mountain too). We were on our way down when I saw this patch of mossy greenery. I got right down on the ground and stuck my macro lens into the moss - these plants are actually only 3-5 cm/1-2 in tall, but they reminded me of a little forest. I suppose if you were an ant, this might be the forest you'd have to find your way through.

I know what you mean about the photographic memory. Sometimes I can even remember the sounds and smells of a place.

I always say looking up brings an amazing amount of beauty, but that world under our feet often gets missed. Nice forest. Can hardly see it through the trees:)
I can remember a lot from a photo, even what I was feeling at the time. And at times I wish I could throw a photo out because of that feeling....but I like it too much to do so. That's when I just shut my mind off an simply enjoy the shot:)
That's so funny- when I was little, I would explore the "smaller worlds" like this... imagining if I were tiny, how the smaller plants & weeds would tower over me. Good to pay attention to the small things.
Yeah, photos do that, also songs & scents... they all have the power to bring you back to a certain moment in time.

That reminds me of the scene in 'Honey, I Shrunk The Kids' where they were tiny beings running through the backyard trying to avoid the lawn mower & all the critters... LoL! =)

What an awesome perspective Rick, I love this shot.
What I love about my P365, a few times over now, is that I remember through my shots, it's like a photo journal. I'm like Dawn, I even remember the feelings attached to most of them when I took the shot, most of the times it's a positive feeling and there are ones which I've taken which saddened me but that's all a part of life.

I think I've learned to improve my vision a little, Dawn. The rest of the hikers just ignored me (they're family so they're used to me when I have a camera).
