The causeway joining Sanibel Island to the mainland consists of 3 bridges, which are anchored on 2 man-made islands. Due to deterioration from salt spray, the older bridges dating from 1963 were replaced in 2007. The first bridge, closest to the mainland, replaces a drawbridge, and has a height of 21m/70ft. While we basked in the sun there earlier this week, I took the opportunity to get a few different perspectives of it - it was tough to pass up a photo op.

I love this photos :D
The second photo, in particular, is really AWESOME enlarged to full screen! The weather is looking mighty fine along the Gulf...enjoy!
How Rick I always envy the way you seem to know how to make a picture perfect. They way you put the bridge into it makes me wanna follow the lines.
Great great job. Oh and do send some of that sunshine...oh no we will have that lots this next coming week do send some warm air. ;-)
Happy sunday my friend.
Hugs Dag
Rick that second photo, I'd be scared to drive over that bridge! I don't know why, it just looks intimidating. The first photo looks like one would just drive right into the ocean. And I couldn't help but notice, 1963 popped up again, no more reminders please! lol Just kidding naturally, you're only as old as you feel and I sure don't feel old by no means so it's all good! lol
Have a wonderful, blessed Sunday!
Great photos of bridges Rick !!!
Have a nice week !
Great lines. I love bridges!
Gee Rick, that dont look safe all the way up there.
excellent. I love the first!
I like the perspective of that second one ...
Great perspective in that first shot.
Bridges are one of my favorite things.....ever.
And your second shot is amazing!!!! WHAT A BRIDGE!!!!
Your shots are interesting. I just love how photography gives us the ability to capture such unique perspectives in a tidy little package!
Obrigado, Soraia !
Thank you, Carolyn ! Yes, it's really warmed up here lately and the sunshine never quits !
Ah oui, Marty - I too love bridges, and I have some more perspectives of this one that I'll share in future. And yes, impressive ! I assume it's built to withstand a hurricane too. First day of spring bisous from Florida !
Dank je wel, Dag ! I think my mind's eye is 'seeing' the world much differently than when I began my 365 over a year ago. En ik zal de warmte gelijk sturen - fijne week gewenst. Groetjes.
LOL Darlene - I think it's all about perspective ;-) ... which in the 2nd shot does make it look a bit like a roller coaster ride for cars ! And I love the perspective my ultra-wide lens gives me, like in the top photo - beautiful 'distortion'. Hmmm - that 1963 VW was NOT brand new when I bought it ;-) Have a great week !
Thank you very much, Magda ! Enjoy your new week.
Thank you Tammy; there's something about structures like that that I find captivating too.
Ha ha, Stewart - and you know that the camera NEVER lies ! ;-)
Obrigado, Mariiana !
Thank you, Susan.
Thank you, Farmchick (I love how everyone has a favourite perspective !)
Thanks Dawn, I think there are a number of us bridge lovers out there ! I always find it fascinating how an object or structure can be viewed so differently.
Thanks Cat - yes, one of the things I love about it too - it forces us to really see things from many perspectives (not a bad life lesson either).
Wow, the second photo isn't just architecture, it is art! Love the lines.
The thing that makes the second picture so unique is that the cross poles of the bridge are taking most of the picture frame, usually most bridge photos concentrate on the sky and nature surrounding the bridge. I like it a lot :-)
Greetz,
Joseph
Thank you, Becky - I think bridges are some of the coolest structures made.
Thanks Joseph - I'm sure you experience that too when you see a scene - some things just jump out at you and you figure out how to capture it. I was fascinated by many perspectives of this structure - this isn't the last.
Bravo! Excellent perspective and good images!
minu
Thank you, Minu !
