In a bit of a departure from my 'usual' subjects, I plan on providing a small selection of shots made in a very unique city in Canada, one with much historical significance. It was the site of many clashes for supremacy between the French and British Empires. That place is Quebec City, which celebrated the 400th year of its founding in 2008. Many buildings from the early days have been preserved in the 'old city'. The architecture is unlike any found elsewhere in Canada. We visited here for a weekend recently, but a much longer stay is required to truly see what it offers.

I would love to visit there someday and its on my list.. Stunning view. Love the window boxes. Windows say so much and with the added beauty they speak volumes.
I had an email once that had photos of a street much like this in Quebec in the middle of winter with all the windows glowing and snow everywhere. My sister told me it actually looks like that.
This is a great shot. The history calls out to me. I can almost see the people circa 1840 walking down the road.
Oh Wow.. I agree!! It looks like such a pretty place to visit. It reminds me a little of places I've seen only in movies... Rick if you hadn't have told us it was Qebec, I would have easily mistaken this photo to have been taken in a quaint street of a small European Town.. I love it & would very much love to visit!
The place sure looks inviting. The stone facade is beautiful with hanging floral baskets adding colour. Great capture!

Thanks Katherine - this is another one I can cross from my bucket list (although I could visit there again). The old part of the city was built in the 1600's primarily by the French, and is the only walled city in North America north of Mexico. You should have it on your bucket list - it's worth it !

You'd do just fine there Darlene - my spoken French is very rusty (I`d need several drinks in me before I'd try it out in public ;-) - everyone does quite well in English. You`d love it there !
