(Day 49) Spotlight on ...

I've been trying to follow the 'ABC' of photography (always bring camera). Knowing I would have limited time today to get some shots, I put the camera and tripod in the car and headed off to referee hockey tonight. Afterwards I made my way downtown to take some photos of our city hall's clock tower, something I had been meaning to do for some time. It was a bit cold for photography (-2C or about 29F) but I hope it was worth it ...

The ABC of photography, is SO important. I absolutely cannot stand myself when a wonderful photo-op is available, and I don't have my camera with me. But, you live and learn. Sometimes it is good to relax and not worry about shooting. You instead, keep a mental image, and spend time with friends, family, or just your mind.

I think the shot was well worth it!

Thanks for your comments and following too, Avery. I agree re: ABC and being able to take 'mental images' (although I usually add a 'mental post-it' to revisit if I can to get a shot).

nice photo - had quite an eerie feel to it when I first looked at it

I agree with lavender lady about the eerie feeling. I like it! It looks like maybe it should be haunted.

I had a baaaad moment last night because I forgot the ABC rule. I almost always have my camera with me but I forgot last night and I missed a great shot. I am going back tonight to see if I can get it. Hopefully the wind/light conditions will be the same! :o)

I think its very important to have your camera every where you go.. You don't want to miss a golden chance.

I think the photo is well composed, but unfortunately, there's this bright light pointing at the clock tower.

It's a grabber. Good range of light and nicely composed. I like it, but only you can decide if it was worth it.

@lavender lady - thank you; yes, I can see how the lights and shadows give it that eerie feel

@Krista - lol - I think it IS haunted - with the ghosts of politicians past! (I'll check your blog shortly to see if you got your shot)

@M.Hassan - yes, there was a bright spotlight shining directly on the tower; I spent some time trying various ways to eliminate or reduce the wash-out effect but lost too much detail elsewhere, so I went with this one

@Scott (AKA Bull Rhino) - thank you (I think as I look at it again that it was worth the effort)

I appreciate everyone's review and comments - it adds to my daily motivation.

Again, great shot! It's neat how just the tower part is lit up!

Thanks Julia.
