The cycle continues

It was apparent as I wandered through the park this week that things were being left pretty much alone. The trails were rough and in places muddy. The only concessions to human traffic were the occasional boardwalks which crossed otherwise impassable stretches of swamp, and the removal of sections of large tree trunks which had crashed onto pathways.

Everything went through the cycle of life and returned to the ground from whence it came.

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.
("The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam translated by Edward J. Fitzgerald")

All part of a great & natural process. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. This is an amazing photo Rick, coming from on whom just loves being with nature. I can almost smell the damp leaf litter on the forest floor.
Have a wonderful Easter my blogger friend with your lovely family!

No better place to see and feel that cycle than outside in the untouched woods. Great photo, and I love the quote you paired with it.

What a great quote to go with the picture. Time marches on! We can not go back and change it! We can not go back and fix our regrets! Best to make the most of the time we are given! Best to be prepared for the eternal future! Hope you have a great Easter!

Good verse to pair with your photo. That was one of my father's favorite poems...

I think there is so much beauty in a decaying tree.

The cycle continues, indeed. Nice photo, Rick. Kinda reminds me of the "nursery trees" in the Redwood forests.

Its wonderful to see the start of new life once again.
I just starting to drive again and cant wait to get to a park or out where I can just roam around freely.

Thank you, Katherine. It certainly had that distinct yet not unpleasant smell of decay. Almost everything was left in its natural state. May your Easter also be wonderful with your family.

Merci Marty ! Oui - life on earth ! May you and yours also have a joyous Easter Marty. Merci for the chocolate bisous (my favourite !) and some bunny bisous pour toi !

I agree wholeheartedly Elizabeth ! Thank you; the Rubaiyat has been a favourite of mine since high school.

Thank you Randy - I've always thought that particular quatrain of the Rubaiyat was particularly appropriate. May you have a blessed Easter with your family.

Thank you, Leslie. One of mine too ;-)
