A bee's world

When I was out among the lilac bushes a few days ago, the air was filled with a constant buzzing. Not only are we blessed with many beautiful lilacs, but we also have a healthy crop of dandelions. I don't think bees have a preference - I had to be a little careful before sticking my camera into a lilac bush and I also had to tread carefully. I didn't want to be mistaken for and treated as an invader. We all got along famously. I did use my long lens for this shot, however - I'm not THAT brave (or foolhardy).

Today was another of those "ya win some, ya lose some" days. In the win column, I discovered why my photos display at a smaller size when you click on them than what I uploaded - I've used all my free blogger storage (1 Gb) and blogger automatically reduces the size of further uploaded photos. I've deleted some old photos so tonight's post will be a test to see if the original size is maintained. Thanks to those who tried to help me with this one.

In the lose column I'm again having internet connection issues - I couldn't even display my own blog tonight, let alone visit anyone. While I write this (late, because I spent over an hour with the ISP - again !), I have no idea how long it will take, or even if I can post this - if you're reading this, at least it uploaded. Since I've had so many issues (yes, I log all my calls to them) I'm finally getting a 3rd level engineer assigned to do a complete assessment. So - I hope they can find the root cause and fix it. soon. I will again try to come visit you when my connection allows. Thank you for your visits and comments.

Rick, I'm so sorry to hear that you're STILL having internet issues. Lets just hope that this time they can resolve your problems!

I LOVE this photo, excellent dof and the color is fantastic. I see you used your 70-200mm, that's smart when taking photos of bees! I wouldn't really want to upset them neither.

So that's what the problem was with the photo size, now I know if I ever have the same problem. I went and deleted some photos and it took me quite a while to figure out why my photos were disappearing off my blog. I splurged and sent the $5 for extra storage now and I'm glad I did. I ordered a book of my blog site which is going to be all of 2010, less one day which I deleted... oops!

Have a fantastic day and all the best with getting your internet problems resolved.

A gorgeous photo, Rick! Thanks for the info re the blog space. I guess we'll all hit that wall at some time unless we do as darlin did and pay the $. I didn't know we could order a book of our blog, though. Now there's a thought! I hope you get your internet up and running soon. How frustrating!

On the "win" column, you got a great shot!!! When I used up my storage, I had to pay a fee... I think it was 5 or 10 dollars a year to continue to upload to Blogger. It wouldn't even allow me to do small photos. Must be different in Canada? Well, good luck w/ your internet- that is frustrating!

I'll never understand how people can do close ups so well! Very nice. Hope your internet gets fixed soon. That is SO frustrating!

GREAT photo, but i'm sorry to hear of your continued internet problems. this is also the second time i've read about blogger's "free" storage space. apparently, they charge you after a certain point? hmmmm....

That's a beautiful capture, Rick! I love the color & mom always used to , "the bees won't bother you if you don't bother them!" heheheee!

I guess I was way off on what I thought the problem was w/ your photos... but I'm glad you got it figured out! ;)

Most of the time when I'm having problems w/ the internet, it's the modem & I've told them they need to 'IMPROVE THE QUALITY' of them... no brainer, right? Ha! =)

Thanks Darlene (did I tell you I love my 70-200mm lens ?). I try not to get too close to bees and wasps - I'm a bit allergic to stings. I think I may need to 'splurge' on extra storage too ;-) As for my internet connection, it's very sporadic - sometimes it works ok (I can't say 'well') and at other times it can take a few minutes just to open the google home page ! Sure hope they fix it. soon. Have a wonderful weekend !

Hi Elena - yes, it's frustrating - makes it difficult to visit other blogs since they can take SO long to load.

Thank you Jeanne. I've been thinking about having a book made of my blog also - but I'll wait for an internet fix before trying to order it !

Ha ha - thanks Becky - that's a good way to look at it. I think blogger just reduces your photo size even if you've used up your free 1Gb - should work for you too. Still waiting on that internet fix - limping along till then.

Ah, nothing to it Elizabeth - a reasonable telephoto lens, a tripod, and some patience. Thank you, and enjoy your weekend.

Thanks Ruth - the photo should be larger when clicked on since I made some room on picasa webspace (where blogger puts photos).

Thank you, Leslie. You can continue to upload photos when you run out of 'free' space, but at a reduced size.

Thanks Tricia. Your mom was right about bees - and I left them alone. It wasn't easy to find out what was happening to my uploads, but now we all know ;-) As for the internet, almost everything has been checked out - I hope their level 3 can figure it out; very frustrating !

Obrigado, Fábio !

Ha ha - thanks Stewart !

LOL - thanks Dawn - I wasn't brave nor foolhardy, just used my telephoto lens so I didn't have to get too close ! And you're welcome ! Enjoy your weekend.

Hello teca - nice to hear from you. Thank you for your nice words ! I like your description - 'kissing the flower' ! Have a beautiful weekend - I send you warm beijos !

Thank you Magda; if you have many bees, you must have many beautiful flowers - enjoy ! Have a great weekend.

Hi Saz - I think I'm being taught patience re: my internet; it just makes it difficult to visit other blogs - takes SO long to load. Thank you for your kind words; have a super weekend !
