(Day 309) The cleanup crew arrives
The storm abated, the skies cleared, and the sun shone again this morning. All in all it looked like another beautiful day shaping up. All the critters that had taken shelter from the driving rain the night before were out again. My wife, who was talking on the phone to get a cable TV issue resolved, suddenly motioned to me to look out the front window. A large flock of ibis (anyone know the plural ?) had descended on the front lawn and were busy feasting on all the worms and bugs that had come out to enjoy the lovely weather. I of course grabbed the camera and sneaked out a side door to grab a few frames.

I think the plural would be just as you've written it! The ibis living here in Australia look a little different to these Ibis! Have a great weekend & I hope you get your cable troubles resolved asap!

Rick I thought you gave up chicken farming! :-) What a wonderful close up of a unique bird, I've never seen one of these before, as you know we don't get this particular species here in the tundra! lol
How exciting to see birds like that in your very own yard! Aren't you glad your wife can talk on the phone and watch for your next photo op at the same time!? Wonderful!

I love Ibis. My favorites are the young ones. I love their brown coloring, and the way they get sort of white spots as they mature. Last winter I saw my first young Wood Stork. I've never, ever seen a young one before. He looked like a large cotton ball with eyes. Really cute.
As for the plural, the dictionary said "Ibises" but my bird book says "Ibis."
