(Day 319) Upon closer inspection ...

Today while I was doing PPP duty (pet poop patrol) I found something a little more aesthetically pleasing than the object(s) of my prime objective. I've noticed that the lenses of my eyes have been sharpened over the past year (no, I still need reading glasses) - it's something I've mentioned in previous posts - and now I see beyond the lawn and objects to be removed from it.

I found a small number of these little yellow flowers, only about 1/2" in diameter, growing in the grass. I'm still learning so I don't know if they're weeds, or desirables. Seems they keep their heads down just low enough to escape the lawnmower's blades, so I'll just leave them be too.

@Ruth - thank you Ruth; they're safe !

@S. Etole - yes, they do resemble the sun, don't they.

@Dawn - ha ha, glad I didn't step on them - the flowers, that is ! A small benefit of the PPP ;-)

Rick, this is a beautiful photo. I have to agree with you, things which I either never noticed or took for granted before I began P365 are amazing. I view things differently, including life. P365 is one of the best things I've chosen to do, I have a continued sense of gratitude in my life and have many WOW moments. I have learned through others here valuable lessons, like your ABC rule... that's one I'll never forget especially when I don't have my camera on hand! You are a gifted photographer Rick and yes I know what you're response is to that... as I smile on this end.

Precious yellow tones.

Rick, these flowers grow around our neighborhood pond as well. I think they will grow into small bushes if left unmowed, as I've seen them growing 3-4 ft high at a local park. It may be Broom weed, which is also a host plant for butterflies. Here's a link if you're interested:

@darlin - you know even better than I do (you're in year 2) what a challenge a P365 is. But the rewards have far outweighed the mental challenge of finding interesting subjects each and every day for a year. I agree with all your points. Thanks again Darlene ! (I'm smiling too !)

@marty - thank you marty; I agree - it's very important to preserve the beauty that is around us (I might draw the line at caterpillars that eat my stuff !). Bisous pour toi !

@Katherine - a silver lining no doubt ;-) Thanks Katherine !

@Leovi - thank you Leovi !

@Leslie - thanks Leslie for identifying them ! I checked out that link (beautiful photography there too) - these seem to be lovely flowers and attract butterflies, but those seeds look mighty nasty (we've found a few others like that here already too). Maybe I should 'rescue' one and plant it where it won't get cut - just so we attract butterflies. I'll have to look to you to be our resident expert !
