Traipse

[treyps] – verb (used without object) - to walk or go aimlessly or idly or without finding or reaching one's goal
That's what I set out to do today. My son had told me of an area he and his wife had 'discovered' that I would likely enjoy for a photo shoot. Yesterday's rain was forgotten and the sky looked promising this afternoon with nothing more than white puffy clouds. My photo shoot companion was eager to go and explore this new place. It didn't disappoint.

We had the place to ourselves. The brisk wind eventually gave way to warm(er) sunshine as we traipsed through the woods. Save for some moss and a few hardy ferns, no other plants were ready to make their spring appearance yet. Despite the definition I believe we did achieve our goal today.

It's neat how those skinny trees casts shadows like that. Very pretty.

Rick this is so beautiful, God's country for sure! How do you add the depth? Is it the lens you're using which does this and your colors are so deep and rich. It's awesome to see that you didn't get the snow that we got, boy did we ever get it today. The nice thing is that I just shoveled without a heavy jacket and no need for mitts, at least it's not -30 thank goodness.

So that's how you spell traipse, that's a word I haven't come across for a lot of years now. I think that the last time I heard this word would have been from my Mom and that's been 9 years this year she's been gone from us in body, her spirit lives on through me for sure. I have the same determination and drive that my Mother did, there was no job to big and no quitting where Mom was concerned. I miss that lady. It's funny how one word can bring back a flood of memories, the power of words.

That's unreal about your internet, can you get a ... what are they called? The stick is what I call them, portable internet... we have that out at the farm, Herb got that for me for when I go to visit. I couldn't be bothered otherwise to post with dial up. That was crazy making, I could make a ten course meal waiting for two photos to load! lol

Take care, I shall see you again... hopefully tomorrow night from Canmore!

Thanks Elizabeth. It's an optical illusion - the shadows are from the trees behind me, where the sun was coming from ;-)

Thank you Ruth, and I told my wife the same when I got back.

Thanks Soraia !

Thanks Darlene. Speaking of God's country, you might recall this from last year - I still think the west owns that title but there are places here that are a close second ! The depth is obtained from using a small aperture (f22) and an ultra-wide angle lens. I made 5 exposures of this scene and created an HDR image using Photomatix. Great that 'traipse' brought back those memories - not such a common word. A salesperson just called me this week about 'Internet on a stick' - no speed guarantees, low data download limits and quite expensive (and they had no idea what they were talking about !). I'll stick with the bird in the hand - and hopefully they can make it fly at a proper speed ;-) Enjoy your trip to Canmore !

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Rick! :-) That's one amazing post but you can read my comments over there. This HDR I really want to learn but there's just not enough hours in a day YET. You sure know a lot about taking photos and you got your camera when? I appreciate the sharing of info, I've started a file called photo tips and add the ones I receive in there, one day when time permits I'll play around and see what I can do with the tips I've been fortunate enough to receive. Thanks for sharing! That's odd that there would be a huge price difference between here and there for the sticks, the one we have is about $45 a month through Telus and seeings we don't download much it's rarely more than that. I pay that for high speed at home. All the best in getting this resolved, I hope they fix you up and soon. Have a fantastic weekend! I'll see what I can do for photos out there, I was checking out sites tonight for things to do in Banff and there's a gondola which takes you up to the hot springs and there would be some wonderful photo ops there! If it's clear enough that is, even if it isn't I'll take a photo just for you! lol

Wow! Even though there is no green in that photo, I think it still provides a brilliant image of the natural world! Well done, what a fantastic shot!

Thank you Katherine ! I hope all is well with you.

Hi Darlene - you're doing fine juggling studies, blogging, making photos, and ... life ! Once you achieve your degree you'll have time to get to know your camera better. We have our internet working better now (at least I can make visits ;-) Looking forward to those Canmore photos ! ;-)

Thank you Magda !

Thanks Leslie - I hope to go there again soon; I barely saw 1/4 of the place. Spring is coming. slowly. Hope you're having a great weekend !

Thanks Betty ! I hope your weekend was a good one, and that your coming week will also be good.

Thanks for dropping by, Susan - I'll be coming around, with a better functioning internet connection.

You're welcome, Soraia ! ;-)

We sure did, Becky - the silence was shattering, and we get along well on photo shoots. Hope your weekend is going well too.

Thank you, Jeanne - I saw it on the side of a hill and figured it would make a lovely focal point.
