(Day 282) Sharing the wealth

Sat. Oct. 9, 2010

It's Thanksgiving weekend in Canada which is an opportunity for families to get together to enjoy the special bonds of family, and to celebrate the blessings of another year. One of the blessings this weekend was the beautiful weather we enjoyed - a day which started out crisp but sunny and soon warmed up nicely. I took the opportunity to go with my son-in-law and granddaughter to one of my favourite places for a brief walk in the afternoon. Then the whole family, including 4 dogs, went there after dinner to shuffle through the thick layer of leaves that now cover the ground. It was good to share the beauty of this small, quiet piece of the creation.

I wish all of my Canadian friends a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend !

That top photo, especially when enlarged to full screen, is simply awesome. I love how the light glows around your grand-daughter's hair! The little red jacket stands out so boldly with the yellows... I would frame this one!!! A R-E-A-L keeper!

These photos remind me of the woods I grew up in. As a transplant to Florida, I miss fall profoundly every year. Thanks for sharing a taste of it through your photography!

I love the way you captured your granddaughter as she was just leaning over that puddle. She looks such a part of the fall woods in her little red jacket :-)

And thanks for your encouraging comment over at my blog! Hopefully Florida will be accomodating for your winter travels and give you some lovely weather.

@Leslie - thanks for stopping by and commenting Leslie. I'm glad we were able to enjoy fall - I can imagine how you must miss it. We're looking forward to missing a large part of winter though - we'll be coming back here for a few weeks (just to experience winter !) and then heading back to Florida.
