(Day 293) Out in the country

Some of you may remember a song by Three Dog Night from 1970 by this name. I think it pretty much sums up what I feel about living in the country. Now I realize it`s not for everyone, and not everyone is able to, for many reasons. But I think almost everyone enjoys a drive or a walk or a  picnic out in the country.

We put many kilometres on our legs just walking along the country road by our place, the scene of today`s photo. And even our dog Sasha, who has 77 acres to roam around on, gets all excited when we say the word `walk`(we have to spell it if we`re not ready). She would rather be on a leash walking along the road than running freely on our land - go figure.

If you haven`t been able to get your fix of country today, maybe the song and photo will help. Enjoy.

Nice photo, Rick... and hey, I remember that song. 70's wasn't it?
I grew up out in the country, and it was the best way to grow up~ your kids are very fortunate! 77 acres, holy smokes! I think we had only 3, but we didn't have much for neighbors, so it could have been 77 for all I knew.
:)
ps funny about dogs... i think it's going out for a walk & spending quality time w/ their owners that get them so excited!

Walks are my favorite part to the day!
My dog never comes running unless I have my runners on. Then she just KNOWS:))

Country life is taking me a while to get used to...don't know why.
It's beautiful and quiet.
It's just a very different life for sure.

Great capture!

BEAUTIFUL! That one word sums it up for me! I'm sure that you already know how I feel about the country. You've captured a magnificent photo which makes me want to get outta Dodge and head for the farm! Stunning photo, I love it in B&W!

Nice perspective, guessed by choosing black and white.

I love fences! There is a fence in the country along the Guadalupe river here in Texas that has cowbow boots that have been hung all along its posts. Maybe I'll post that pic this winter...

Beautiful shot - I like the black and white.

what a wonderful fence scene. I keep telling everyone I have to try some black and whites but never get the time. I love what you did. Carrie

@becky - yep, one of my favourites (I've got lots !). When my kids come here, they call it 'going to the resort' (we're empty nesters now).

I think you're right about dogs ;-)

@Dawn - our dog is similarly 'trained' - she knows all the cues, even if we try to be nonchalant about going for a walk !

As for living in the country - it took my wife quite a while but she enjoys it very much now.

@Ruth's Photo Blog - I hope you and Jake are still able to enjoy that pleasure. And maybe in your hearts you'll sing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee".

@Cat/The Whimsical Gardener - yes, post that one - s/b fun ! I just drove by one last week that had old bicycles leaning against it - looked like hundreds of them.

Thank you Cat.

@Here I Am/Carrie - thank you Carrie. I don't usually take my camera with on our 'doggie' walks but decided to this time - there's usually something to see. I don't often use b&w unless I think it would make for a better image. Just go ahead and try it - you'll be surprised.
