I've been preoccupied lately with putting together a photo book of our Rhodes vacation, or actually 2, since I couldn't get my selection of photos to fit into 1 (I have something like 2,200 to whittle down from). So from time to time when I haven't been able to get out with my camera, I've been posting a shot from that collection. As I was reviewing some today, I came across this one. I can usually recall exactly where I was when I made a particular photo - on this occasion my wife had ducked into a shop, and as I was looking around I spotted something bright down an alleyway.
Over 6,000 people live in medieval old town Rhodes. It may be a huge tourist draw (and a fascinating place I would unreservedly recommend to visit), but life also goes on.

And why not? Nothing wrong with clean, air dried, undies.
love this...a great image of the daily life of the locals!
What a fantastic shot Rick, the right place at the right time! I love the laundry in this shot, it adds that realness, that down to earth feeling.
Oh I love it!
I haven't even tried to start a book for my Hawai'i trip yet. It's a little harder to go through 10,000 pictures!!
Hi Rick,
This is a orizinal beautiful photo of my country and is a honour for my to your visit Rodos.
Thank you.
Have a nice weekend !
Magda
Yep, that is typical for mediterranean countries, actually your photo reminds me of my early youth, I can smell the sun dried clothes now - It is simply different and refreshing to put on something dried by nature ;-)
Greetz,
Joseph
Hey Rick-
have you ever don one of those online photo books? they turn out great.... really professional- looking.... though w/ that many photos, it'd cost a mint. Ahhhh, your pictures make me want to travel!
I, too, could smell the fresh sunshine on the hanging cloths. This photo tell the story of a day in the life.
Oh, I love it! It's such an elegant reminder that, as you say, Life Goes On! Folks need clean gonch there just as much as here. :o)
I always love seeing clothes on a line and would love to photograph them someday. The trouble is every time I see them they are in someone's yard and it would be a gross invasion to wander over and start snapping their underoos. Guess I'll have to get my own clothesline. lol
c'est une magnifique photo de vacances comme je
les aime ! voir comment vivent les gens ailleurs et sortir des circuits touristiques !
beau week end à toi RICK
Je t'envoie les bisous du samedi soir en France !
Memore, memore...
Absolutely ! The historic and the present - side-by-side. Thanks Scott.
Thanks Carolyn - just one of those situations that jumped out at me.
Thank you Darlene - I thought it brought the distant past into the present.
Thanks Avery ! 10,000 photos !!! You obviously didn't have someone with you ;-)
Magda - we had a most beautiful time in your country and have a lifetime of good memories ! Thank you.
Joseph - I grew up in sun-dried clothes too - summer AND winter (must also be a European tradition). I liked the contrast in colours but also in times.
Hi Becky - yes, I've done 3 already (I used Shutterfly) - was quite happy with them. Thank you.
Hi Jeanne - thanks for your visit and thanks for your comment ! I'll be over shortly.
LOL Krista ! I didn't have to sneak into anyone's yard since they were just hanging out in public. But here in N/A you might have to use a telephoto lens to satisfy your curiosity, or wear a mask and be able to run fast ;-)
Marty - merci beaucoup; I try to find some unusual situations to photograph, as well as all the 'highlights' of course (my wife usually is somewhere else during those moments). Merci for the bisous - I received them on a samedi soir au Florida and in return I can send some warm bisous to remove the froid in France ;-)
AleR - thanks for visiting - feel free to come again !
I love this too. Im with the rest of the group. Nice shot and great eye.
Thank you Lisa !
