Our recent 'balmy' weather, which was responsible for the little snow we had to completely disappear, has in turn been replaced by more winter-like weather. Not that I expected it to remain, but it reminded me of this song. Of course, like all of you would, I saw this as an opportunity to capture the beauty of a fresh snowfall.
Now I didn't rush right out, camera in hand and Sasha in tow. I was fortunate to pick up a bit of paid photography work this week - I've been asked by the business where my son designs kitchens to build a photo portfolio of their finished work; I'd shot some of their work on a trial (read 'non-paid') basis and it looks like they've liked it enough to pay me for some more shoots. So - on my way home early this evening from a shoot I spotted a scene, right in town, that I hadn't really noticed before (yep - even after all I learned from doing a 365, I obviously still have to practice closer observation !). At least I put rule #2 into practice.

wow....looks fake! how did the shoots go today?
This is a beauty, Rick! I really really like it! And, a paid photo shoot...super! I hope it leads to more and more for you in the future.
Wow what an opportunity...show us the results please. And this little hidden tresure is just perfect.
Our weather will soften soon into 10C wich is good because the last days were real waterkoud.
See you my friend.
Hugs Dag
Thank you Ruth ! The light came from fluorescent street lamps, with some other city lights in the background (I set white balance for fluorescent).
Thanks Mike - I can take you to this spot if you like; shoots went well today !
Thank you Carolyn - hard to imagine a spot like this in town - and I'd missed it all along. We'll see where the photography work goes.
Excellent frame with a wonderful light, very poetic.
tu n'as pas vu cela avant ? mais comment
est-ce possible ? c'est magnifique !!!
j'adore cette photo !!
plein de bisous arrivent avec des flocons
de neige !
This is absolutely stunning Rick! It has an unearthly quality to it...it's beautiful. I would love to be standing there!
I really love this shot Rick.
Now I bet when Mrs Rick gets you in the kitchen, she will expect more than photos, lol.
So excellent. Everything about this is just perfect to me.
WoW! Congratulations on the job!!!
That's really beautiful & the water is like glass! =)
Pardon me if I say I adore seeing snow or ice on photos, but hate it in reality. Funny though, because I used to pray everyday for snowfall when I was a boy ;)
So, I guess this was your last photo of 2010? Did you keep to the rules or cheated on the way? Have a nice day.
Happy new year!
Another lovely photo! It looks eerie and serene at the same time. I keep coming back to look at it. Great news on the photo job too!
a fantastic scene ...
Thank you Leovi !
Marty - even my wife hadn't seen it before, yet it's right in town and we've driven right by it many times. The problem is that there's a low railing in front of it which obscures it from a car - yesterday I was driving my pickup truck which sits much higher - and - voila !
Dawn - c'mon over and I'll take you there ! ;-) Thank you.
LOL - thank you Stewart ! Ha ha - you bet she will !
Thanks for your kind words Farmchick !
Thanks on both counts, Tricia !
Muito obrigado Soraia !
Hello M - thank you - it's ok to adore snow ... on photos ;-) My last photo for my 2010 photo project was posted here. I kept to the rules with 2 unavoidable exceptions. While the 'official' 365 is completed, I'm continuing with posting and shooting daily when possible.
Thank you Karin - I made a number of shots here and it was hard to choose just one (maybe I'll save some for a future post).
Thank you Susan - I was very surprised to find it almost in the middle of town - I've never walked there before (obviously I should !).
Stunning light Rick . Just stunning.
Its warm here this week but were soon heading into the deep freeze agian. Too cold to take my camera too far.
Thank you Lisa (see my Ansel Adams quote on the sidebar). I hope you're all prepared for the cold - stay warm !
I thought that I had commented on your photos here, maybe I was sleeping at my keyboard that night. Rick these shots are fantastic! They almost make me like winter and the beauty winter holds, then I get in my car in the morning and slip slide away across the city and it is then I realize that winter is beautiful... in photos!
I absolutely love everything about this photo.
Fantastic.
And congrats on your shoot(s)!
All nature sings .... and waits on tiptoe! Beautiful shots as usual!
Fantástica!!
